  • which means i have 43.93 to last me the next 13 days. should think i will manage that without too much problems.

Thanks JD, I'm glad you're feeling good about that, it makes me more hopeful. I'm down to £72.50, and I'm bricking it, I suppose this cash only takes a bit of getting used to:confused:. I think I'll manage for food, but I know I need petrol, but I don't think I'll fill the tank, that'll be a first.

you get used to it lol but it really concentrates the mind on wants v needs!

i know i have enough milk to last a week, so only milk needed for last 7 days: about a tenner (ish)

i have enough meat to last me for the next week and with using slightly less than usual i may be able to stretch another days meals out.. 6 days of meat at about £15 roughly

fruit and veg will need to buy for last week of the month.... £10? i shall get the breadmaker out and make my own bread

which leaves me about £9. ( i have no doubt this will go though lol)

have enough pet food in to feed 2 chickens, 4 cats and 1 hamster:D

this means that myself and the 4 kids will have to be really inventive to make the money stretch....but it is certainly possible!!!:D

    Rachael,

I think that it depends on yourself...some people find it easier to draw out the money and keep it in a separate purse...I find that if you plan your meals and approximately what they will cost you will manage better, sticking to the list is very important too. I try to buy non perishables for the whole month in the first week and any offers for meat, fish etc and then just top up as needed during the rest of the month...I'm sailing close to the wind this month as I will have a visitor for a week (big man!) and have only got €29.30 left until 30th.

    Good luck

    Hi
As my budget is weekly, I wait until Tesco has delivered which is 9-11 on a mon morn on way to picking kids up from school I draw out the remainder of my £80 budget out and keep it in one compartment of my purse.

I definately find that this helps me, as when ordering Tesco I know the better I do the more CASH I will have......anything leftover then gets chucked into the savings pot.:D

I,m the opposite with cash, dont have a purse, so anything in my pocket is fair game. If I break a twenty and only spend £15 from it the rest goes awol.

By the way soup was blinkin luverly, Marie, your mum is still the champ as far as colcannon goes, think I need a bit more practise but will eat it all to make sure I try harder next time (and get a good feed of iron)

Teedy, how does that work then? Do you count all of that £20 as grocery shopping then or how do you balance it?

  • Hi all and well done everyone so far.

As you can see from sig. I'm still in budget - just about! Got loads in though so, fingers crossed, should be ok.

OH working all day Sunday so gonna have a batch cooking/baking day of lasagne, chille, shortbread, soup etc.

Should only need veg and pots to last till 31st.

(secretly quite impressed with myself, thought I'd have gone waaaay over budget by now)
