I popped to Sainsbury's rather than Tesco yesterday and ended up spending £17.97 - all I really wanted was peppers, mushrooms and some foil lasagne dishes

However, I'm partly redeemed because they don't do the foil trays anymore (Tesco seems to have stopped doing them too) but a lovely lady showed me their ovenware range, which is freezer-to-oven safe. So I spent a tenner on three roasting dishes but they'll last longer than the foil ones, saving money in the long run. Plus it's more environmentally friendly :A

Hey, ho... back on track again.

  • Hi All

End of week one and have spent £51.19 which is amazing for me. Am really having to cut back as bills seem to be coming in left right and centre at the moment. £72.00 for DD1's gym fees, £59.00 today for DD2's nursery fees. Plus it is DD2's birthday soon and have to get present and cake etc!! It is partner's 40th next month. Did plan to get 2 tickets to rugby world cup and a weeked in paris before I realised that it would cost me about £1500!!! so think that is out the window.

Sorry about my "un-grocery" ramblings, I don't want to increase CC debt any further if I can help it, so grocery bill might be down to NOTHING!! Well, we can always eat "dust", that is one thing we are not in short supply of!! Anyone got any good dust-recipes?
  • I feel like I am failing miserably with this challenge this week. Although I am still under budget (just), I have already spent more than I did last week, and it's only Wednesday:eek: .
Although I have cupboards and a freezer full of food now, I'm not sure I'll manage to stay under budget as I may need top-up shopping at the end of the week. Grrr....and I was doing so well :(

my month goes 2oth to 20th so I only have 2 weeks left til payday.
Going ok so far but only really have £52 left for the month, and £18 of this will be a veg bix delivery, leaving me with £34.

However I did just have a massive shop delivered on Saturday evening (£71) and I did a top up shop today (£27). We have plenty of stuff in the freezer and cupboard. Might need to buy some flour for BM. And of course will need to top up on milk but hopefully that shoudl be it, Might be a bit of a storecupboard challenge in the last week though LOL

Why do you put nappies in the freezer? Is this a cool thing to do? :rotfl:

:rotfl:However I have been known to put me cuppa tea in the fridge & the milk on my desk so I'll check where the nappies, just in case!

Slightly off GC topic, but I sometimes keep my clean knickers in the freezer overnight when the weather is hot... slipping into them is THE most delightful way to start the day and never fails to put a smile on my face.

You'll never know until you've given it a go :D

Not sure I'd fancy that, but I'll recommend it to DW. Perhaps she'll stop pestering me first thing in the morning ;).

Anyway enough of that cheekyness, Mr. T's delivery yesterday came in at £82 for the next fortnight, so quite pleased with that.

Hope you all will do well this month.

Out to lunch to-day with OH and spent €20.40 plus €7.50 for 10kg new potatoes, so have now spent €213.95, leaving €116.05 of budget, or €4.83 per day to end of month...we have green veg in garden, apples and rhubarb and there is always the hope that some blackberries and elderberries might ripen...very slow here.
