Along with it getting dark so early I struggle at this time of year with drying washing … although I have a TD (no internal light) I hate using it for the cost, but also hate tripping over stuff hanging everywhere, and it just doesn't dry outside. Does anyone (without a lot of space / room to put washing in) have any great tips for this?

    Hi Hollyboll

I'm normally a lurker but I love my heated airer so much I had to de-lurk to recommend it. Clothes dry very quickly and, as long as you shake the creases out before hanging them, there is no need to iron anything - unless you count sheets, but I don't bother ironing them anyway (should I be embarrassed about that?).

The airer was quite expensive but is worth every penny.

AND when I stopped to buy some a chocolate bar jumpted off the shelf, rugby tackled me and insisted on coming with me and being eaten ...
I just walked into kitchen and a bag of garlic toasties just leapt out of the cupboard into a bowl by my side so I can sympathise :eek::eek::eek:

Oooo thank you perfume wagon … that sounds like a Thing of Beauty ... Would you mind PM'ing me some details? After the initial outlay is it economic ish to run? Thanks also for delurking :hello:. And finally - sheets, ironing, really? (I think my previous statements about ironing have reached a new low of standards / high of embarrassment) ..

How rude of them … my evening continued in similar vein … there were free drinks at the talk, which made it seem like a good idea to use tastecard to go for a meal afterwards … where there was a delay for which we were forced to be compensated with free prosecco … after which 3 courses seemed to force themselves into me ...

Perfume waggon is right about the heated airer , I have one and its literally the best thing I've ever bought! Cheap , dries anything , no need to have heating on , doesnt wear clothes out like a td. Clothes not as hard and crinkly as they can be on normal airers ( I use those too as we have lots of washing) I've had the lakeland 3 tier for years , its sometimes on for days at a time if I have a lot to catch up on, expensive but its paid for itself over and over :D

Doesn't have an internal light though :(.

  • Have spent some time looking at heated airer things. Despite lack of internal light (worryingly I had the same thought!:D) am very tempted. Might go on a wish list :T

Last night I went to a debate about goals and strategy … bits were quite interesting, and although it was in context of business I found myself thinking about the MFW perspective :)
    A couple of snippets:
    - Some debate about goals in the Buddhist context - the more you want something the more unhappy you will be … so goals by definition mean you are not-achieving and therefore unhappy. Personally, I don't agree with this but it was a good reminder that it probably brings more contentment to keep goals actually achievable and to keep bigger picture things in perspective.
    - "No strategy survives contact with the enemy" … success is determined not by strategy but by how you cope with reality
    - My favourite new thought was "You don't have a strategy until you say no to something"

    Happy Wednesday!

I find things which have been tumble dried need ironing and even more so then if they were line-dried :( - and that the creases are harder to get out! (Mind you, I iron pretty much everything apart from underwear anyway :D)

I think it depends on the tumble drier itself and also whether you overload it. I once had a "cheap tumble drier" and it was awful. Everything came out in a big ball and totally creased... same with a washer dryer that I once had. I'm not advocating spending so much on a drier, but I have a Siemens dryer (my last one was Siemens too) and my clothes honestly come out fluffy and crease free. Since I don't want to spend hours ironing, then for me it was worth the investment, but can totally understand others not thinking along the same lines!

And do you think the light is essential for keeping creases out? :rotfl:

Haha, sadly not.. it looks kind of cool but no idea what the point of it is!!
