This could end up being a complete pain. So, you get a free check for a year and you find someone has used your identity........then what?. Will Talk Talk help prove that this was not you???
Have been a loyal customer for many years but I am now leaving. This action wil, probably invalidate your free years check.
How a broadband company can take your money and not protect your data is beyond me. What on earth have I been paying for???0 -
BBC (my emphasis):
TalkTalk said in a statement that a criminal investigation had been launched on Thursday, adding there was a chance that customers' names, addresses, dates of birth, email addresses and bank details had been accessed.
Why do they, TalkTalk, need your Date of Birth? If they didn't have it, your chances of being hit by fraud after such a hack would be much reduced. I was recently with TalkTalk but I never provided them with my DoB. If it turns out they stole this data from Equifax, and I am ultimately affected by the hack, I wonder what I might do about it?0 -
I like the way they say , if you are affected to contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.0

I wondered that as well. I can't remember ever giving them my DOB. Looks like a visit to the bank tomorrow and get a new debit card. Wonder if I can bill TT for stress and distress caused, time away from work and petrol costs?0 -

Oh great - heard it on the news this morning. I deal with my Parents - getting them broadband - and got them talk talk 2 months ago. Feel like its my fault now and they will have lots of stress because of this!!
Can the cancel talk talk now - guessing not as they are in contract!
Potential id fraud / bank account theft etc. They offer a year free credit report? Hmmm...
And no my parents hadn't been contacted either.Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
Oh great.
We just literally switched to TT and our services went live with them yesterday! Well that's just my luck at the moment!
Can't remember giving my date of birth at any time during sign up though?
Fingers crossed, no notification from TT yet either, but will be checking my bank from now on, and changing passwords - when I can actually get on the site!!!0 -
Likewise I have not been contacted0
