Police are investigating after a "significant and sustained cyber-attack" on the TalkTalk website, the UK company has confirmed.
The phone and broadband provider, which has over 4 million customers in the UK, said credit card and bank details could have been accessed.
The Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit is investigating the attack which happened on Wednesday.

Can't believe they (and other companies) can charge people for a service and not secure personal data properly. Should be a criminal offence for directors.

Tristia Harrison, TalkTalk's managing director said in a statement
It said the website was now secure again and it had also contacted the major banks to monitor for any suspicious activity on customers' accounts.




the only way to make it secure is to shut it down!

we will get a warning about 10 days after our credit card statements!

Just watched Newsnight and some woman from TT said they have notified all customers (they forgot me) and will be giving all customers free credit checks for a year. Will you still get that when you leave like I am going to. A bloody IT company that can't protect it's customers data. So all the data the hackers have obtained can be used to create false ID's. We should get compensation or free line and BB for a year. Just said on Sky that bank details were only partially encrypted.

worse that will happen is that a government department will fine them , pocket the fine , not give a monkeys about the customers , and Talk Talk put their prices up ,
