    There has to have been some incident that they can point to which started the clock on the time bar. Did you change your account or cancel the insurance ? What exactly do they say in their letter about it?

    If the time bar has not been correctly imposed, you can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman.

    That's a correctly applied time-bar then.

    Why didn't you complain in 2012?

    i didnt realise about the way the loan had been sold with ppi spread out over the whole thing

    No time-bar was applied to the Op's complaint. It's not applied based on when the loan was taken out, but on when you should have reasonably known you had a complaint.

    The difference is the OP had no refund a few years earlier which started the clock ticking on a time bar, you on the other hand...

    You should have complained about this in 2012 when you had your refund.

    You failed to do so.

    Any further complaint is now time barred
  • if u re read the op they said they got their ppi refund after 5 years then didnt complain till last year
