  • I'm delighted our success story has spurred others on to make successful claims, but it's this site and community that really deserves the thanks.
  • I was 'sold' the 2004 with a 5 year PPI. Who do i send a PPI complaint to? Is it FirstPlus (at the Cardiff address as per the letter above) or Elderbridge? Thanks!

The broker that sold it to you first.

  • Thanks. The broker that put us in to FP has subsequently disappeared/gone under. Would the PPI liability sit with FP (well, its new owners - Elderbridge)?

Not normally. You are making a complaint about the sale of the policy. FP didnt sell it to you. The broker did.

Normally when a broker has ceased trading and/or has no assets, you could refer your complaint to the FSCS. However, they only cover sales made after Jan 2005.

You can ask FP as there is a chance that under the Plevin ruling, that they have to refund some of the commission on the PPI (excess above 50% is proposed).

  • Thanks for the heads up, great advice. I wish i had never heard of FP...

We just sent a letter similar to that at the top of this thread straight to firstplus, although the policy was initally sold to us via a woolwich mortgage advisor(although then passed to Firstplus to deal with)
  • Thanks for the tip. I'll go straight to the source!
  • Hi

Sent off claim letter as per template to Firstplus 9th Feb but have now received a letter from Elderbridge saying they have passed my concerns to Barclays, Northampton? As it was sent as per template to Firstplus Customer Relations seems they have passed to Elderbridge any ideas why Firstplus are not dealing?

FP sold the loan book to Ederbridge, FP are responsible for the PPI redress.
See what FP come back with.
    What year was the loan?.
