  • Thanks. Took out loan October 2007, 21 months left.
  • Even though I sent letter as advised on thread to FP no letter from Firstplus just this one from Elderbridge? Confused to why I've had nothing from them and wonder why they have passed my PPI claim letter to Elderbridge to respond to me? Bizarre.

FP should contact you as Elderbridge have passed your complaint to them, see what reply you get from FP and let me know.
  • Hi

Received letter from FP. They have informed me that the broker who sold the loan was Loans.LoaLoans.co.uk so have sent claim onto them now in Chester. Don't remember doing it through a broker but hey ho - will see what transpires and keep you posted.

Thanks for all your advice and help, fingers crossed. Would be helpful to know if anyone has been in same position?
  • Sorry it should have said loans.co.uk

  • Hi all

Can anyone advise how to contact FP to get my old contract number pls? I had a loan which was paid off with the sale of my house but wish to try a ppi claim, however glad stones received a response that FP will only deal if there is an contract number, which I don't have after 8years.

    Many thanks in advance

If the Claim Company have been unable to retrieve the information on your behalf, I can't see any way you can do this alone.
I assume the response that the Claim Company received is in reply to a Subject Access Request (SAR) they sent to the bank?
If the Bank have destroyed your records (in line with data protection) and you have no documentation in your own archive then any complaint is dead in the water.

You can send your own SAR to First Plus, but if you are successful the Claims Company will still want their cut. Let them do the chasing for you, they charge enough...
  • Thx for response. I note that I may be unsuccessful given the amount of time expired but I guess I can but try 😀
  • Hi, not sure if anyone can help with this... We took out a loan with FP in January 2003, the PPI was completed by Portfield Financial Sevices which is now dissolved, I wrote to FP back in 2011/2012 and was told that as it was underwritten by Portland there was nothing FP could do. I then proceeded through a company called Portal claims who told me the same thing, I read somewhere to try someone else and did so with Charterhouse claims who sent us a copy letter they had apparently sent to the Financial Ombudsman, this was back in 2012, all with no luck.
Having just read an old thread regarding FP I wonder is someone could confirm that in fact First Plus were jointly reliable for any PPI claim? and that even though the underwriters had dissolved First Plus should still be liable?
Any info would be much appreciated. :) Apologies if in wrong place.
