Just a thought whilst we are on the discussion of 'we want what's best for you all' would the time that the MSE team are spending on trying to improve the Advents (even though it is clear from a lot of peoples views nothing needs to be changed) not be spent better listening to what many have said time and time again for a long while now and sort out getting us another BG because as it has been said many many times before by countless users we have 2 Board Guides for the competitions board 1 of these seems to go weeks and even months sometimes without logging in for whatever reason they have be it work or personal commitments leaving us with the 1 BG to do all the work which is needed to keep the board running smoothly, it is not a case of not having anyone to step forward to do the work as I have seen many volunteer but still after all this time and many asking time and time again we still have no new BG so the workload is expected to be carried out by the 1 who has the time to do it sometimes resulting in comps not being merged for a good while longer than they should be and various other things taking longer.
IMO this is a far more needy problem than the Advents (which seem to have run smoothly for years)

I never saw any polls on Social Media either ... seems a bit pointless adding a poll on Social Media when everyone who's feedback you would want is already on here.
That's a bit like writing a (snail mail) letter to everyone on hotmail asking them if they like Hotmail

Sorry if this has already been asked but you know how I am about reading back over threads; why isn't the advent thread a sticky? Are we still still debating it for some reason?

Does somebody need to pm a BG?

Come on people we all know what the advents can be like lets get the whole thing sorted so I can focus on being [STRIKE]rude[/STRIKE] helpful to newbies.

the 'owner' of the thread usually PMs a BG to get it stickied. assuming they have already done that and a BG will be stickying (is that even a word?) it soon

Hope the advent is same as last year found it easy to navigate and think Jambo DP Did an amazing job

I think that those of us, such as myself, who don't volunteer to run the advent thread should take a backseat and let those people who have run the thread in the past and who have offered to run it this year make all the decisions. People like me will then have to like it or lump it.


Great idea though about putting the forum team resources into deciding if a new BG is needed instead of worrying about the advents.
