Good morning Compers!

It's nearly that time of year again! That's right Advent Comps will be starting very soon! In fact, dare I say it, the first one started yesterday! (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5345060)

We on the MSE Forum team want to know what YOU want to see this year for Advent Comps on the forum because first and foremost, you are the ones that will be using it (and hopefully winning!)

We have had a little bit of feedback so far and here are the frequently mentioned topics:

1) A separate Advents thread on the main competitions time board.

2) A separate Advents thread for eg. Instant win, Email, etc.

3) Entering competitions from the board without clicking into the threads.

Please let us know what you thing of these ideas and if you have any yourself, let us know below! We can't promise to do everything but the more ideas and feedback we have, the more we can help! :j:j:j

Can we just leave things as they are? I think that it's a simple enough way of working and any "tweaking" isn't going to be beneficial to anyone.

That would be my choice, just posted the same as any other competition but how will that help those who suffer from advent frenzy?

I only did my first lot last year and it all seemed to work fine to me with good management from Jambo and everything so easy to find/enter and judging by comments from 'veteran' users this is the best tried and tested way so the old saying if it aint broke don't fix it comes to mind

All we need is sleepyjones' advent thread (containing the index to all the advents) to be made a sticky on the main board (f=72) until 4th January.

Do you mean entering competitions from Forum View rather than Thread View?

Just about the only way I see that this is remotely possible is to have a button next to the little cross ("skip") in Forum View which would be the link to the third party webpage.

I can see countless problems with this eg.
1) On advents the link might change daily.
2) The OP might be a newbie and can't post the link.
3) The link might change part way through the comp.
4) Some OP's have more than one link.
5) How would you know the answer without opening the thread.
6) We don't want anything that will slow comp posting down.

Maybe thinking if there was a "sticky" that would have direct links to the competition sites instead of just linking to posts on the forum which you then have to click on to open and then click to get to the competition sites.
Still an issue if 1,3,4 or 5 above arise.

Anything I want to enter that is ongoing (not just the odd 1 or 2 advents) I bookmark direct to sites anyway so I don't have idle time if there are any forum "issues".

The issue with going direct to site is there is many that will need answers, hence it was always linked to mse post.
