My apologies then MSE Jordon, your join date, low post count and low thread count does make it appear as if you haven't previously contributed to the MSE Comping forum.UEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0

Completely agree! Need to make up ground with you all! :rotfl::money: Keep calm and carry on couponing! :money:0 -
Well is it only me that hates the Advents ? I find it totally confusing and don't seem to be able to get into any kind of a routine or system on how to organise them. ..... Might add this is me being not comp savvy , total relief when over

"people" being a representative sample or a vocal few?
Running polls that exclude people who do not use social media is not "inclusive" and bearing in mind some comping posts attract 1600 plus thanks and single posts can have over 5,000 views what sort of numbers are you talking about?0 -
Whilst this is all good and well being discussed indepth here can we at least get the sticky up on main so we can start getting them collated? otherwise chaos will ensue.

2) Separate thread from Email / Instant Win ... Neah, I don't think we need to overcomplicate it, having too many threads just makes it a bit messy and possibly confusing (not to mention harder to manage)
3) Don't click into threads ... I've been thinking about the best way to manage this and I do agree that it can be a bit of pain to click through to the thread, then find the appropriate reply to find the answer, or the link ... and then click through again to find out it's a prize I'm not even interested in. So I was thinking about going through them in the morning, adding a direct link, an answer and adding a note of what that days prize is ... be a bit of extra work but should be manageable, I wouldn't want to do anything that would remove "thanks" from the person who posts the reply with the link / answers though, which in bypassing the post this would do.
I'm not sure, need to work out the best way to do this.
I would not run it again if it was like this.I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus0 -
I hadn't bothered posting a sticky yet because there's Polls going on and now this.
Jambo', Appreciate that it probably won't happen anyway ... was just trying to find a better/more streamlined way to do it but I realise that there probably isn't one based on the nature of the beast.
Also, I did put up the "Chat" thread to discuss issues like this so technically, this whole thread is a "Dupe"

I suppose there is nothing to stop the thread being started now and then made a sticky later? - when they get in full flow it would spend most of the time near the top anyway as posts are added to it.0 -

Thanks for the welcome! I actually am very familiar with comping on MSE and have been doing it before my start here. I did advents last year and loved them myself!
Please note that this is a whole forum team discussion, not just from me. We just want what is best from you all! After doing a few polls on social media, it looked like people wanted things to be slicker, that's all. :j
Thank you to everyone for your suggestions so far! We are all taking them on board! Keep them coming!

Hi MSE Jordon
If it's changed how it's been run/posted in previous years then there's no way on earth will it be slicker.
Where were the polls on social media because I didn't see them?
Cheers, stevie
p.s. any chance of it appearing soon?0 -
I am another who saw NO polls whatsoever on Social Media MSE Jordon and am sure I am not the last who will say this. Why can you just not see the comments from those who have done these for years and years and accept what they are telling you that they have run smoothly for however many years and that nothing needs to e changed and if this discussion was to be had it may have been a lot better having it a lot earlier in the year so if it was agreed there was to be any changes then the time would have been there to implement them properly. I don't see how having the discussion when Advents are already starting to appear can benefit anyone in any way. I'll repeat what I said earlier in the thread if it aint broke then don't fix it0
