Having looked at the HDUK thread on this, it seems that a couple of sellers have just upped the prices of games consoles by £50 so they benefit from the discount and not the buyer, which is pretty disgusting.

The sellers in question are Zavvi and Shopto.net

I'm not looking to buy a console, but think this needs flagging up.

Yeah, shopto have had the same price on one console for a good couple of weeks and today it went up (by £35) which is really annoying :( They would have got a sale from me, but now it seems unlikely unless they reduce the price again.

They lose out in the end as I'll find a good deal elsewhere (whether on ebay or sometime in the future).
  • Can I use this in conjunction with other offers, does anyone know? I already have a 10% voucher which they randomly give out on occasions. I want an iPad for my lad for Xmas so was hoping to use my 10% AND the 20% one being released today.

"This voucher cannot be combined with any other voucher, site discount, rebate, offer, gift voucher or other promotion."

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/promos/flash/
  • Fair enough, not a surprise. Still 20% is pretty good.

They are clearly gambling that more people will buy 'blind' just because they've got a 20% code as opposed to the extra sales they would generate from buyers like yourself who know the 'correct' price.
  • Can you use it across sellers, i.e. "add to basket"?

Yes, apparently it will work for multiple items from different sellers in a single transaction.

True. The items will still be cheaper than they were before with the code, just not as cheap as they should be. However, I have the 10% off code so the item I want was cheaper yesterday with that than today with 20% off. May be worth it for some to wait and see if prices drop again.

HotUKDeals is one of the largest, most popular deals sites out there and there are warnings on there of price rises, plus warnings on here and this is one of the biggest forums. It's a stupid move for the retailers to make.

Yeah. I have the 10% off voucher too so wish both could be used! lol. As already mentioned, there is cashback and extra nectar points though which is a nice bonus.

There's lots of terms and conditions and it appears that the offer may be different for each person as it says :

9.The maximum discount available, per voucher, may be limited. Please refer to the voucher, Facebook post(s) and related Facebook pages, and partner communications for further details.
10.The voucher may be redeemable only in certain categories. These categories will be clearly mentioned on the voucher, Facebook post(s) and related Facebook pages, and partner communications. If no categories are stated, you will be able to use the voucher anywhere on eBay.co.uk.

I have my eye on a £200 item in a specialist category- so fingers crossed.

I don't think that's true actually, it's going to be code that anyone can input, there is no connection to facebook.

I can find no mention of this anywhere apart from on the ebay facebook page.

Ebay CS are on there now responding to questions and people are asking how to get the code and are being told:

'just check back at 4pm for the code,'

Has anyone found this mentioned anywhere else- including the community boards?

On the ebay facebook page it says

'Our Flash Coupon is only a few hours away. You’ll get 20% OFF everything on purchases over £20. Maximum coupon value £50. Follow our Facebook page to get the code. The coupon starts at 4pm and ends at 10pm today.
UK site only. One use per UK registered PayPal account. Tc&Cs apply: http://on.ebay.co.uk/eBay'

The code will be announced on the FB page only by ebay and probably shared elsewhere by others shortly after. You don't need to be logged into FB to see their page though so there's no need to follow/like them, just check back there later.
