You were up and posting early today, Helen:eek:
Lovely to see lots of new people joining the challenge:T
DuranGirl, I know exactly what you mean about juggling. I think that's the hardest thing about being in debt, having to be vigilant all the time and be constantly checking where the money is (or isn't!). It makes my brain ache on a regular basis:eek:. Thank goodness for online banking, at least that makes things a bit easier:T.
Take care how you go, everyone, on this very windy Friday 13th;)0 -
Hi there DreamerHelen and everyone
What a great idea for a thread, I'd love to join in if you're still accepting members.Everyone is doing so well, yey! :j:T
I have £1.38 in a savings account that I'd like to turn into 3 months bill money/ EF. This cash has been saved from the pennies in interest I make on my current account and I'm very proud of it, despite it being so tiny. It'd be good to give it an actual purpose.
I'm still paying off debt so progress on the savings will be slow but I think any little step will give me a massive boost.
So, I'd like to make my goal £3000 and I'm starting with £1.38.
Looking forward to following everyone's progress. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -

Anyway....Welcome, Welcome, Welcome ani*fan ..... I have put your name and figures on the First Post.....It doesn't matter how small we start with, the point is that we need to START...And you have...which is awesome!! Do come back and let us know how you're getting on hun....
Nothing to Report from me.....Was hoping to put something in yesterday but couldn't in the end....Now it will probably have to wait until next Thursday when I get paid...hopefully I can put something in then...
Right...I'd better get myself sorted to get out of the Door...Speak to you all soon xXx0 -

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all your support yesterday. I love this thread! I had a cheap and cheerful night out last night with a friend  and we took in turns to have a good grumble, so feeling much better today. It's so true about the online banking - it means I can keep an eye on everything on a daily basis, to make sure it tallies with my spending spreadsheet. I will make it through the month without going overdrawn! Cosy "under the blanket" day today before m'chap comes up tonight :T We don't live together yet, live about 35 miles apart and his shifts are crazy, so it's a fortnightly treat to get a whole Saturday together. He told me yesterday he thought I was doing brilliantly at managing my finances. That was nice. :j Trying hard to make today NSD, although I may have to splash out on a bottle of lemonade, as I don't have any wine in and we like to have a little drinkie when he arrives. I've already told him it will have to be "pick and mix" from the cupboard - but I have nothing in to mix anything with! :rotfl:3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. Hi everyone and welcome to the new folk on the thread :T hope that you all meet your goals no matter how long it takes- for me it'll be very slow!
No monies added to my account yet and car heater has packed in so got to sort getting it fixed for the winter so I can demist the windscreen!CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!0 -
Already over £5 in this week which is surprising to me because I only have £45pw to live on (after rent, bills and, thankfully, food due to doing one big shop at the start of the month and mostly living on that)
Amazing how it adds up when you're just rounding down accounts for a few pence here and there (and the 50p from the first week of my 50p challenge!)Aqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100

Please cover your ears, everyone, while I have a good scream:eek:
Just when I thought I might have a tiny amount to get my 3-6 months savings off to a start this side of Christmas my washing machine has packed up today:mad:. It's absolutely ancient and not very energy-efficient. I have a newish tumble-dryer (which I try to ration the use of but is essential sometimes as this is a damp, cold house and I can't finish off drying partly line-dried washing inside as condensation and the resultant mould is always a worry:() and I'd love to have a WM in the same brand so that I can stack the two (usable space in my big but horribly designed kitchen being at a premium).
Am thinking it's throwing good money after bad having the old one resuscitated, it's been living on borrowed time for yonks, and I'd be better biting the bullet and buying a new one (on Black Friday if possible as every penny counts:o). Will have to deplete my £1000 EF on another thread to buy it (although it's only just over half full:o) and pray that no major emergencies strike before I can top it up again.0
