  • Just transferred £36.46 from my current account to round me up to £1800 - will update my sig. The odd numbers were really annoying me! Have been cutting back a lot the last couple of months, so when my car broke down today, I didn't have to panic because I still had enough in my current account to pay for the repair without using my EF. Yay!

  • Morning Everyone.... :) I'm up early and feeling a bit sleepy....but I'll get there....Nothing to report from me as I definitely won't have anything to put in my Pot until tomorrow...Hopefully I can put something in then.....slowly slowly :)

DuranGirl .... I have Updated the First Post...You're doing absolutely marvellously....keep it going hun...and it's great that you didn't have to use your EF.....That's fantastic...xXx :)
  • Not posted much since I joined the challenge but I read the thread regularly. I'm really happy for how well you are all doing. Thanks again, Helen, for starting the challenge and for keeping everyone motivated:T

Still battling with a pet insurance claim. If it pays out (and it's a big if:mad:) I'll be starting off my EF with whatever I get:j. I wish they'd get on with it and let me know one way or the other:(. Not the end of the world if they don't pay though as in that case I'll be cancelling the policy and the premiums saved (£15 a month) will be going into my EF by DD.

    Continued success to everyone:beer:
  • Thanks carbootcrazy for keeping us Updated hun....I'm sorry you're struggling with getting what you deserve back from them....some Companies can be VERY tricky!! :( But hopefully you'll get some good news soon xXx :)
  • Thanks Helen for keeping us all motivated! I'm really cheesed off today because I went to pick my car up, all seemed good, they'd replaced the part and given it a good test run. I drive it for two miles and the fault starts again! My trusty mechanic is astounded and bemused, but the car's gone back and we'll see what happens. I'm already £216.26 lighter so who knows what the final total will be!? Trying hard to protect my EF, am just checking my bank balance on line to see how much more slack I have in the current account. :( I may have to use some holiday if my boss won't allow any more home working (they are really good but there are limits), which will be annoying. But the public transport from my place to work is virtually non-existent and I don't intend to hire a car, so that's really the only alternative. Still, I'll be saving about 50 miles worth of petrol each day, so every cloud and all that...

  • I really empathise, DuranGirl and hope your car is fixed for good this time and that you can sort something out about your work:beer:

Car repairs have been a massive drain on my finances this year:mad:. Public transport round here is virtually non-existant (two buses a week through the village to the nearest small town on market days, otherwise a 3 mile walk up a very narrow and isolated country lane to a main road where there is an hourly bus service but where you have to change to another to get anywhere remotely worth going to). Luckily my working days are over but I cringe to think of the amount of money and petrol spent on long commutes in the past.

Just come back from the nearest post office after posting a couple of things I'd sold, a round trip of just under 10 miles:mad:. Certainly cuts into any profits made from selling stuff to make a bit extra.

    Good Luck:beer:
  • Thanks, Carboot! My lovely boss has agreed to me working from home for the rest of the week if I need it. The work we're doing is mainly online anyway, and he said "that's what a flexible working policy is for". So that's definitely taken the pressure off. M'chap has said he'll drive us up to my DS's uni open day on Saturday if things are really dire (m'chap doesn't live with us yet). What with my parents mucking in too, I've been so blessed this week.

  • Car is sorted (fingers crossed)! Another £98  that I covered with my current account. Worst of all was the bill I got from my daughter's last school. She was at independent school on scholarship and means tested, and as I'm on my own it meant I was only paying extras. Every month came out on direct debit apart from the last one - I found out today. I sort of hoped they'd overlooked it or that I'd made a mistake in my calculations, but I hadn't dared spend the money that I thought they would be taking. I'm VERY glad I hadn't touched it (it's more than I dare confess on here!), because I should still end the month without going overdrawn, but sadly will have very little (if anything) extra to transfer to the EF on the 30th. Still, much much better than the situation could have been a few months back, and I will have some to transfer on my first day after payday. And now that we're round about the middle of the month, if my final solicitor's bill arrives over the next few days, they'll get a cheque that clears after my next pay day too. Juggling... juggling...

  • Oh DuranGirl sounds like you've got a lot going on at the moment, good luck with the juggling hun xx

A small EF top up for me today, balance now £827 :)
  • I'm doing the £1,000 EF challenge as well as starting a 52-week challenge now but I'll do this as well.

I'm on benefits so I don't get 'wages' but on average it works out to £1,270.10.

I'll round it down to £1,250 and make my target £3,750

It's probably going to take me until 2020 :rotfl:
