people should talk more about cancer. I have it as one in three of us will do in the future. it needs to be talked about and addressed. it's not a nice subject but neither is people avoiding you because you have it.

I've posted on here because I dont want to answer PMs and it be hidden. I've got incurable blood cancer. I'm going to die from it unless AAU gets me in his double decker bus first

As I've said to a very good friend tonight. Problems are only big if they are affecting your life....whatever they may be. life is too short to please other people.

This is so, so true but it is improving. When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer almost 35 years ago we were not allowed to use "the c word", she was simply ill. My mother herself had kept quiet about the symptoms for years, she was 46 when she was diagnosed and the doctors thought she must have had the cancer for 10 years or so as it was a very slow growing one. If she had gone to the doctors when she first noticed symptoms she had a good chance of surviving even in those days, but even she admitted she had known for many years but was afraid to go to the doctors.

Mind you, as a consequence, if I notice anything suspicious about anything (especially gynaecological) I am off to the quacks quick time, and they take anything like that seriously because of my family history (my maternal aunt also died as a result of breast cancer but she was a lot older).

someone close to me was taken into hospital on Thursday last week. He had a whole body scan and was told he had advanced lung and liver cancer. He went home and his daughter told me on Friday. He passed away yesterday :( I firmly believe some people just give in when they are told.

Not me, I'm not giving in without the mother of all battles :D

    Morning all

Facing our own set of misery today but last nights postings put it all into perspective.

FC - this is the main thing we want to here, that you are fighting it tooth and nail and with every once of strength you have and the Elite will be behind you every step of the way

On my second day of doing this, my first try got me a £35 Restaurant Vouchers - terms say one issued each of the 28 days the competition is running - so very lucky to get one. don;t think the restaurants are very MSE ones but will make sure it is a treat. Thanks for posting mhoc :j

Well I am gobsmacked by this, that any of us have won the daily prize, I was so fixated on the 50p mocs and the Barilla stock pile :D

Slightly worried about how posh the resturants are that you will be allowed to use your voucher in - even pubs these days charge £10 to £15 for fish snd chips - 2 mains, a shared pud and wine should be fine though :)

My reputation as the free dinner finder goes before me :rotfl:

    Good morning everyone

A big thank you to Fairclaire for being so open about her cancer. Yes we all need to be able to talk about different diseases that affect our lives and those around us.
No one knows what's around the corner, but with the support of family and friends we can find the strength and courage to tackle the many challenges that lie ahead.

My life was turned upside down 10 years ago when I suffered a stroke at the age of 34. I had to relearn skills such as walking and talking etc, but I still have sensory disturbances and problems with concentration.

There will always be good and bad days as well as tears and laughter.

Please continue to post on here and let us all support you :A
