Right got to get moving. He who speaks will be home in a couple of hours, and I've done nothing all day. The cooker is calling. Cornish pasties need to be made.

Or you could hold the knife over the toaster while the toast cooks and have orange juice to drink. Completely negates the need for a kettle.:p;):rotfl:

How about some Christmas tableware? The Holly & Ivy range from Portmeirion is very attractive and you could add to the collection every year, solving the problem permanently.

Hope everyone is well or at least feeling better this afternoon. Howling gales and raining, pretty horrible here. xx

The problem is they started that collection...not portmerion but royal worcester holly and ivy....30 years ago....

I gave up adding to that many years back...

    quite possibly.

MY OH has a number of blind spots - he literally cant see mess and disorder.
For instance I move the coffee table to vacuum and where he sits the carpet is littered with biscuit and other food crumbs.
I object saying what is the point of doing the floors only for someone to traipse through dropping food.
    He cant see the problem
Next morning its ground hog day and this time as well as crumbs there is a brown stain which turns out to be butternut squash soup and takes some scrubbing to remove.
I object saying what is the point of doing the floors only for someone to traipse through with food.
    He cant see the problem

    this sounds like a nightmare

so they are south rather than north - are you on the Time out email list, my eldest works in London and lives just outside and she uses Time out to find fun things to do.

what about a Thames cruise with a nice evening meal - think I've seen these on Amazon local

what about the sky garden - you can book meals up there as well

    https://skygardentickets.com/skygardenpublic_ui/events/

    http://www.rhubarb.net/locations/sky-garden

We went to the sky garden a couple of months ago- not for a meal but just to go up for the views-
views are superb especially on a clear day (as we had) and to go up- a timed entrance was free:money:, but drinks were horrendously expensive:eek: (don't forget to take id)
  • Sorry I meant to reply the first time you asked.
We bought one after the fiasco with Amazon.
    Everybody should own one IMHO.
There is far more to it than just filling with water and popping yourself in though.
To heat up from cold takes about 12 hours and to keep it hot constantly I would presume would cost a fortune.
My DH fitted an outside hot tap which we attach the hose pipe to which is alot more cost effective and quicker.
You also need to add quite a few chemicals, chlorine etc and do dip tests until it is right. You do however soon get used to quantities and timing.
Reading the reviews on Amazon people were saying they left the water in for one to two weeks, we don't after three goes it is ready for changing IMO. I am very bacteria conscious at the moment though and they are little breeding areas for bacteria so you do need the chemicals to keep them safe.
DM may completely dis agree with me I will be interested to see how he finds filling his etc.
Emptying it again is another issue in the end we bought a pump for about £40 that empties it straight into the grid which is great.

So to round up my opinions I think they are definitely worth getting but initially they are quite hard work until you get used to it and there is more financial outlay involved with your chlorine tablets, filters etc.

    Go for it!

    I agree, go for it!
Ours is housed in a lined metal shed in the garden. It is left on constantly at 34 degrees, our preferred heat. Electricity costs just under £1 per day but this is our luxury, particularly at weekends. When we go away we turn the temp right down to keep it ticking over.
The tub provides us with many benefits but it is a great opportunity to catch up and discuss things without interruptions like TV, Phone etc.
We use Aquafinesse, so simply just add once a week, no tests etc necessary. This has worked fine for us for over 5 years without any problem, costs £89 every 6 months but saves so much hassle.
Change the water every 3 months or so.
    Wouldn't be without it now:T

Several of the Purina boxes of sachets have a £3 off voucher on Amazon voucher page if you do a subscribe and save. If you order 5 items you get an extra 15% off the price. You need to click the voucher tab below the price on the top right of the page for each item you select. I got the chefs selection mini fillets in gravy for £8.90 for 48 pouches as an example. When they are on offer the cheapest I've seen has been £3.50 in the supermarkets. Free delivery too.

Sorry to quote myself, but forgot to say that you need to cancel the subscribe and save after the order arrives, as the £3 per item discount is a once only.
