  • But you DID IT! You got out there and you DID IT! End of! I am a really slow runner and I used to be so self-conscious about it, thinking that people would be laughing at me as I just edged past them at their walking pace but I dont care anymore, because with each week that passes of me DOING IT, I feel myself getting fitter.

I have good and bad days. On the bad days it really hurts and on the good days it just hurts! But my Apple Watch tells me that six months ago, my average heart rate during a run was 180bpmish. Tonights 5K race was 152bpm! THAT is progress. Oh and the fact that I couldnt run a mile without stopping in January. I dont care too much about speed anymore, I go for distance.

I put myself back a few weeks ago by pushing my limits too much - getting over-excited with my progress and being a little too ambitious with my distances, so have had to go back to 2 mile runs for a bit and turning the zombie chases off while I recover.

Oh and being scared! Well, you did make me chuckle a bit! LOL. Motivated you to move though eh? :-) I physically jumped during my mission tonight - it is quite scary until you get caught a couple of times and remember that it is just entertainment! LOL

This is the downfall of jogging, while it makes you fitter, it can ruin you physically lol.

My legs didnt ache last night or this morning but they ache now a bit. Had a crap nights sleep yesterday because i stayed up too late but i am too curious to see whether or not i can run 1km quicker than i did yesterday, or more fluently and to see what my breathing is like.

The app does motivate me because i do get scared pretty easily but being told i am being eaten by a zombie or something is enough to make me want to turn my phone off :rotfl:
  • Oh bless you WannaB! It's so easy to get right into the app :)

If you get caught, you throw supplies at them to distract them. I like to think I either brain them with a tin of beans or throw pants to cover their faces hahaha!

Yea my diet's not great, but I'm getting there. Well done for getting out there and doing it!

  • Hey

Hope you don't mind me dropping in! I LOVE this app! I recently added running into my commute home to avoid the tube (see siggy for nerdy £££ saved when I run and don't get the tube!) there is one problem....

London is BUSY! The zombies come and I'm at lights, or crossing London Bridge in a wall of people or I start to speed up and someone steps out in front of me.... the list never ends. Yesterday morning a cyclist even went so far as to throw herself off he bike in front of me (she must be a zombie it was nothing to do with the ambulance sirens blazing approaching behind!)

Maybe I need to reduce the speed I need to increase by when I'm running in town and then increase it at weekends at home!

How do you find out when the events are on?

I've gotten stuck at a road before - SO annoying...

I went running last night and when it said zombies something like 21 meters away i naturally shat myself and started sprinting and then it said something and the zombies were off my tail, presumably dropped a supply?

Getting fit is hard. I been eating more food lately and exercising but feel as though i am putting a bit of weight on.

My hip didn't hurt last night like it did on Sunday but when i got home i noticed i had pain in my left knee. When i woke up i was in agony and was thinking i might have to have the day off but soldiered on.

Do you get aches and pains?

I happened to read one of your threads, you sort of take money saving to the next level really?

I used to ride to work once upon a time and it used to make me feel too tired to work :D presumably you have a sit down office job in a nice comfy chair?

I don't blame you for wanting to avoid London traffic, it's not much better in Birmingham .

How far do you run and do you do it without stopping?

I managed to do 1km yesterday without stopping in about 5 mins but i am not happy, used to be able to run a lot further and faster.

Also, are you not sweaty at work?

I ALWAYS get aches and pains. If something didn't hurt when I woke up in the morning, I'd think I was dead :) however, pain IS your body telling you off - if I have more than a twinge I just walk the next day.

It might be worth having your gait looked at in a running store. It's really helped me :)

You only drop supplies if the zombies catch you - it'll say something like "Supplies dropped. Zombies distracted.". If you manage to evade them, it'll say "Zombies evaded.". :)

Haha I have been known to come up with some "different" ways to money save! My commute is now much longer than it used to be so I can't go to the gym anymore so by eliminating the tube part of my journey I get to escape the crush and exercise.

Yeah I'm an accountant so the most activity I do at work is walking between meetings!

It's just under 3m/5km each way, I tend to walk in the morning to avoid the sweatiness (although we do have a shower if the mood takes me to run) and then in the evening I run it. I am building up to running without stopping, at the beginning the people traffic is too busy to run much so I try to keep a steady pace once I'm through that and it quietens down but I always end up stopping at the moment... I'm the same this time last year I could run much farther so I hope I can improve back to that level!

Last night I reduced the % I needed to increase my pace by to beat the zoms and that helps so I might just increase the zombie chases now to make sure I'm not being lazy!
