I've finished booking our holiday for March. We already had the flights and today I've booked the accommodation. We are spending a week in Nerja (on Costa Tropical, Spain) and a week in Granada. We fly into Malaga and then it's a bus to Nerja. At the end of the first week we can get a bus from Nerja to Granada and then, at end of holiday, a bus back to Malaga. Haven't been to this bit of Spain before so it will be good to see some new-to-us places.

    Morning all

I don't know about 'Back to the Future Day' for me I just want to go back to bed, sleeping really poorly atm.

Plan is to do the hoovering before the paid stuff today and then I have some a parcel to collect and some books to drop off afterwards.

Lynne your holliday sounds well planned and something to look forward to over winter.

CY hope you are doing ok.

    Morning all.

    Busy day for me today:
10.00 meeting 2 hours (1/2 hour drive each way, with a slight detour to the big hobbies shop on the way home)
    14.00 U3A group 1.5 hours (local)
19.15 course meeting 2 hours (in the same town where I'm going this morning)
Doesn't leave much space for a great deal else! I might get the next stage of cake icing done while tea is cooking.

The house is tidy but a bit dusty in places - after breakfast I will try to clean upstairs before I have to go out, but leave downstairs until Friday because we have the charity AGM and lunch here on Saturday. The pile of paperwork is gradually clearing off the spare bed (it found its way back on there as soon as DGS3 went home).

I'm a bit cross with myself that I didn't get the lawn done while the sun shone yesterday, and now there are loads more leaves to clear off and it's raining (which would have washed in the weedkiller). I ended up sleeping for 3 hours yesterday afternoon to ward off another threatening migraine - fingers crossed, it seems to have worked this time. Must try to pace myself better.

Your afternoon out sounds great fun, YL.
I am trying to imagine MrLW wearing a T-shirt with pink elephants :rotfl:

Gentle (((hugs))) to CY, Dusty, poohbear and anyone else in need. Spoons in the jar by the hob, and more in the drawer if those run out - please help yourselves if you need some today, as I shall only need a couple for myself.

Hope everyone has a good day x

New Italian (actually, Scicilian) lodger arrived last night very late, but is absolutely delightful. They really are a joy, these young women. (Our first, who only came over to the UK from the University of Palermo to be with her boyf, a gearbox engineer with a UK racing team - the relationship didn't survive - is now working at a University in California.) They are always very pretty, which is more than okay by OH, delightfully charming, very respectful, clean, tidy and very, very smiley. This one's here for nearly two months. Good.

Caught a falling leaf this morning, my first ever, while I was out dog walking - a good omen for Back to the Future day, I think. Got all three WM loads almost dry yesterday outside and the pear tree leaves raked up and bagged before the rain really set in this morning. I might do the apple tree later to clear the decks a bit, so to speak, before the sycamores on the road start their shedding. For the first time ever I think I might not have to sprint to catch up with myself this autumn, both inside and outside the house. Mind you, my standards have definitely slipped since I started being realistic about what was achievable. Must wash the kitchen floor today and the stairs could do with a once over.

The cupboard under the front steps got a right going over at long last. It really is one of my Rooms of Doom and was a complete tip. I walk in there and just feel helpless week after week after week and suddenly, yesterday - right when I didn't need it - I saw part of the solution. An hour later, a trip to the tip and a load of stuff in the car for the scrap store, I can finally walk in there and not feel despair. Sometimes I just have to be patient and wait for the solution to present itself.

    Apples.
    Better is good enough.

Thank you for all the interview wishes. It went as well as it could have done. The assessment was very hard and not in an area that I have expertise but I did my best. We were told we would get an email yesterday (I looked at my phone every 5 mins) but nothing arrived. I've logged in to the website and it thanked me for attending the assessment and said my application was under review ???

    Your lodger sounds delightful HB.

Dusty have you tried valerian tea before bedtime? It's been recommended to me by a friend.

CY Wishing you a good day x

I'm back from a very wet dog walk. Muttley doesn't like the rain so she ran all the way back home!

WM is on its 2nd load, DW has been set off and is ready for unloading now. Best get started on the list.

    Morning all.

I feel much better today, I'm still really cold but that could be due to the wet weather more than anything. Yesterday I managed to get all the time sensitive work done, but the dog deciding he needed belly rubs and so the laptop had to come off my knee didn't help. Today I'm sat at my desk in the hopes of getting the next job done without too much interference ;)

Dailies are done except for the dog walk and the weather is awful so I'm staying home. I'm going to clear a major hotspot of nearly 300 4von catalogues! 100 need preparing to go out (order forms in book, book & sale book put into a bag and stacked), another 100ish need to be finished being prepared or re-done as I've got them back from customers (same as the others only no sale book), and the others left need to be un-prepared and recycled so I'm dealing with those first ;) Its the longest more boring part of this job so I'm going to watch my programmes while I do it. It also means I'm one step closer to having a free weekend as they need to go out to customers on Tuesday but I have a delivery to deal with on Monday.

Off to make a coffee and start on the first batch of books.
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

    Mum to5 fingers crossed.
Dusty, Nicki and others - yes it is clearly mountains of paperwork season, I'm convinced the stuff breeds.
I have a day's reprieve today instead of uni although not a pleasant reason - I have to return to the dentist this afternoon to have a cracked tooth investigated, possibly taken out. Plan was to get up at the crack of dawn and make the most of the extra time to write reports.....but sadly failed (yes the f word is justified) at that and lay in bed reading. Have just finished one report, so a quick lunch (in case I can't eat later), scoot to surgery then hopefully return and continue.
