Shopping in New York

Depends what you want. I bought some perfume someone asked me to get at Heathrow and then saw it in NY for the same price in a boxed set with body lotion, a small bottle of the newer perfume and something else. YSL mascara is about £10 cheaper in NY so I'd say leave it until you are over there. Clothes are much cheaper there and a better selection.
We brought back more than £145 but took all the labels off and posted the receipts back to ourselves - just in case:eek: . I also made sure I wore some of the items! So go with a 1/3rd full suitcase and come back with a full one. Have a great time............could do with going back again

Are there any outlet villages in NYC ?
Thanks0 -
Woodbury Commom Premium Outlet is about 50 mins away by bus. Well worth going there. Open 7 days a week. Google it and then print off the discount coupons as they are worth more than the booklet you get on arrival at the Information Centre.0

Hi pinkdot, if you click on "Search this Thread" just above the top post on this page, and type outlet, you'll find previously mentioned info about outlets which may help0

thanks for the tip - new to this0

including my tip on woodbury common which applies to shopping generally ....it depends on the time of year how good the discounts are.0

bear in mind it costs $39 for a return bus to woodbury, if you don't think you're going to buy a lot, it might be not be a money saving exercise...

We've just got back from NYC today, and can thoroughly recommend a place called "Daves" between 16th & 17th on Avenue Of The Americas - http://www.davesnewyork.com/
Levi & Carhartt jeans for $35, and a vast choice available.
It was the Macy's clearance sale on Saturday just gone, and we got Calvin Klein Jeans for $19, A Hugo Boss OTP suit fro $145, and Kenneth Cole Shirts at $11. At the till we got a further 11% discount for UK visitors.
It's also worth visiting the Queens Center - http://www.shopqueenscenter.com/ - about $15 -$20 in a cab from midtown manhattan, and a good days worth of shopping under one roof.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Or for only $2, get the R or V train to Woodhaven Blvd Station, saving you at least $13!!!!0 -
Highly recommend Century 21 - have bought Kipling bags, Lulu Guinness umbrellas, cashmere pashminas in every colour under the sun, Guess and Oscar de la Renta sunglasses, designer ties and shirts.
Biggest recommendation I can give is to visit there as your first stop in the morning - the shop will have been tidied before opening, and you can see what there is.. by afternoon it has all been turned over and just looks a big mess which is a bit off putting. Not so off putting that I haven't still found good bargains, but less of a pleasure and more of a scrum!0
