Hi all.Great thread this. But if a few people could help me that would be fantastic.I've looked through the thread and can't really find what I'm looking for.
I've booked a very last minute flight to New York as a surprise for my girlfriend leaving on the 7th February. But I'm struggling to find a hotel within my budget.I realise that hotels in NY aren't the cheapest but if anyone knows of ones that are decent that would be a great help.My budget is a maximum of $100 a night, obviously if there is anywhere cheaper that would be really good.I know that's not much a night but I'm on a tight budget.
Thanks in advance everyone.Josh
I know you said you had a budget of $100 but there are ways of upping that a bit.
I followed MarkMoos advice and stayed at the Cosmo - its fine, very, very clean we had a small room but it had everything we needed as we were not in the room much.
How were you thinking of travelling around ? The subway card for $25 is all you will need for your stay plus $5 air train. We did a taxi one way but came back via A train and then Airtrain at JFK very easy apart from lugging case up the stairs!
No need for $50+ taxi ride.
Its very easy to follow the subway guides and we always found people willing to direct us...unlike London!
If you stay at the Cosmo there is a brilliant Deli opposite that does very cheap breakfasts, dinner or even evening meals that you can take back to your room after a hard days sightseeing.
The Reade St Pub around the corner does very good food and decent cheap beer...about $4 a pint.
Just a few suggestions we followed from here that worked for us.0 -

Hi Glitz,
I know I am bit late to reply to this thread, but I hope my suggestion will help someone looking for some guidance. There is a site LastMinuteTravel.com that is running an interesting contest. Find the clues and get a stay at any hotel for only $1 per night. Check -

Question of the day
Anyone know of any apartments that will take 7?
I can find family suites for 6 but there's 7 of us
If not, I'll have to book 2 rooms in a hotel or 2 apartments.
We're going 18th -23rd Feb (5 nights)
2 adults & 5 kids! Aged 16, 14, 12, 11 & 8!!!
so I know most of the above will class as adults
If anyone can recommend anything it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your timeSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
