    Excellent.. blame the b/f!!! :)

well, new york city is made up of 5 different areas, and Manhattan, the island, is the central part.

Times Square is the tourist part which is reasonably central when it comes to the island of Manhattan.
However, there is only flashing lights and expensive poor quality restaurants and bars there. To get a decent meal at a reasonably price, head to TriBeCa, and for good bars / nightlife, head to the East Village / Lower East Side.

There is 99% of New York to see outside of Times Square.. It has it's moments, and can make good photos, but it really isn't all that, and definately not the centre of NYC

glad you got something booked, and are happy with the price, personally, the amount of time you spend in the hotel, you really don't need anything that posh!

and 10% quidco? damn! it was only 8% when i booked my hotel last week! (and yes, tracked same day, validated a day or so later!! wow!)

    Thanks Marky!

I do agree with you on the "don't need anything that posh" andi thought about it, did a huge search for hotels under £100pn and to be honest couldn't really find anything worth looking at. The cheapest i found was £76pn for the Hotel St James in Times Square but i just couldn't bring myself to stay there :o
Others were around £90-£110 for mediocre with ok reviews on TA so for £20 a night i thought i might as well book somewhere memorable:rolleyes::D
Between you, me and everyone else reading this, me and my boyfriend met on Deal or no Deal in October and with our winnings wanted to go to New York together! :D:D

I'll set you a challenge if you want one....find a hotel with good reviews, good location, modern, decent with a good bathroom for under £100pn and i'll cancel the Iroquois.

    xx

Cosmopolitan. Using HotelConxions. There, I've said it before markymoo does. Although I don't know how it's pricing up with the exchange rate.

Not in Times Square, but I don't think you'll regret it.

You know there is a whole thread about cheap NY Hotels?

cosmo is currently running at $140 a night, before taxes, so, with taxes, it is $1158.36, and at the current exchange rate which i've taken from https://www.no1currency.com (you'll get a better exchange rate probably with a nationwide card!) it works out at £822.11 which is £117.45p per night..

And, i think there are a lot of people on this forum that have now stayed at the Cosmo, and i've never heard a bad word about it..

where you find it at £96? if it was hotels.com bear in mind they don't add on the taxes and you pay directly to the hotel, as it isn't a special rate...

    hmmmmm

yeah... be careful of the cosmo through hotels.com
Rates displayed are for single or double occupancy per night based on the number of adults. Additional adults or children occupying the room may incur extra charges at check-in.

Your reservation isn't paid for at the time of booking. However, some hotels may require an advance deposit before you arrive.

so you don't pay anything, and the price they show is EX tax...

the cheapest for the cosmo, has always been hotelconxions.com and i've never found it cheaper yet..

i feel a bit sad i'm going in march and NOT staying there.. i do like the hotel!!!!

I just looked it up on hotelconextions $140 which i converted to £96 (i'm probablt wrong!) i know, i've done the before tax conversion.

So £822 for the week. Maybe it's my thinking, but for £100 more i can stay in 4* Iroquois near Times Square (i know you hate times square!!;)) Does look nice though xx

    Hi
I stayed at St James in Nov & would definitely stay there again - absolutely no probs. Extremely clean, plenty of towels, comfy beds & helpful staff. We also loved the location.
