  • Thanks markymoo - I am still looking and battling with myself..price over comfort but in my heart I know that I need to look after myself and that the extre room will make a difference (no exit seats for pregnant ladies).

If anyone else is looking for the same time I can get Virgin direct from Heathrow for £368.50 and US Airways from Gatwick with 1 stop in Philly for £300.30 :D (both on travelocity)

Anyone know how much it is to upgrade on the day with Virgin? Not sure if I would dare risk it though...

i've upgraded on the day a few times with US, and not had a problem... the only downside i can think, is there is no upgrade on the short 1 hour hop from PHL to LGA...

A quicky for MFD, consider Zoom. We came out cheap but are going back in the better seats. Gatwick to NYC. See earlier post for other impressions of them.

Taking Lou's advice (to get out and enjoy myself!), but a very brief update: it's a bit cooler today so they've persuaded me to stay another night. Fortunately Cosmo had a cancellation so we can stay here.

Best :money:, leave your teenagers and husbands at home! Have caught DH using the 'wrong' credit card, what is he like? DS3 has insisted on buying a guitar, still to work out how to get it home in one piece.

Staten Island Ferry: top tip and forgive me if someone's already said it, stay at the back both ways because it will be less crowded and you'll get the same view in the end. Statue of Liberty is on the right going out, left coming back, as you are looking in the direction of travel.

If you get to SI needing refreshment, go out of the ferry terminal, head off slightly uphill and to the right, keeping branch of NY Public Library on your left. You'll find a Greek-American cafe called something like Papadoulos opposite the library, good filling portions, lovely and friendly. Doesn't look much.

Enough for now. Collapsing in a heap ....

Hi guys, I'm looking for a wee bit of advice on Broadway tickets please?

We are going to NY on 1st Septemeber and my OH has wanted to see Avenue Q for ages. When we booked it looked as though it closed on 31/8 and he was so dissapointed. Now it looks as tho it's been extended, so I'd like to buy the tickets before we go and totally surprise him. I know you can get them cheaper if you go to TKTS, but then he'd know about it....So what I'm asking is whats the best way to buy Broadway tickets from here? How much is a fair price to pay?

Any guidance would be apopreciated, thank you!
I can't look into the future, but the futures where I'm walking to

For theatre tickets I would highly recommend:

    http://www.broadwaybox.com/

they do discount tickets and you actually print your tickets off from home.

The tkts booth is ok however you have to queue for the tickets and even then there is no guarantee they will have what you want at least if you pre-book through broadwaybox.com you will know you're sorted.

    all the best

    Sunday - Scattered Thunderstorms - 40% chance of rain - 30c
    Monday - Partly Cloudy - 20% chance of rain - 31c
    Tuesday - Scattered Thunderstorms - 30% - 31c
    Wednesday - Isolated Thunderstorms - 30% - 28c
    Thursday - same

i think you'll be fine.. it'll rain for 10 mins, and 20 mins later it'll dry up as it is so hot out there right now.. you'll enjoy it regardless.. don't let the weather spoil it for you

Thanks - I'm sure you are right - we will enjoy it. I was a bit concerned whether the helicopter flight would go ahead but will just wait and see, not much I can do if the conditions are not right. Kids would be disappointed to cancel it though.

Got plenty of other things planned though to make sure we make the most of our week there.

this may sound silly but could you arrange for the helicopter trip in the morning ? like most places the storms build up through the day as it gets hotter
