Interesting.Manoj Piplani, managing director of Barclaycard UK, said: 'In our research, we found most people are interested in the idea of seeing their credit score.
[...]
Manoj adds: 'Everyone should take time to manage and understand their credit score – it's not only an important deciding factor on whether you can get a mortgage, loan or credit card, but can affect your access to a much wider range of products and services including mobile phone contracts, monthly car insurance, bank accounts and more.'
The Barclaycard research suggests the main reasons for checking a credit score is for a mortgage application, suspected ID theft and general curiosity.
Lots of talk about "credit score" in the article. Do you think they really mean credit file?
I'd expect the Managing Director of Barclaycard UK and a journalist for This is Money to know the difference.0 -
Your expect too much from both a journalist and a top manager.0

Slightly off topic here but Tesco Bank are to offer the Noddle service for their Foundation Credit Card customers (saw it in the paper today). It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

If anyone is interested, I just logged into my barclaycard and they now have a prominent banner inviting you to access your credit score. I had to confirm the length of time I had lived at my address and when that information passed the check I was told,
"Thanks, we've received your Experian Credit Score request
We've shared your information with Experian, who will now generate your Experian Credit Score. We'll send you an email when you can log in and see your Experian Credit Score. Alternatively, go to 'Accounts & services' in the next few days."I might be broke but happy but I'd happily not be broke!0 -
I have just done the same on my account and it said my application has been sent to Experian.Littlewoods £0/£750
Barclaycard £0/£1,000 @ 0% Nov '18
Goal: To be debt free by Oct' 31st 2016.
Now debt free!!!0 -
Well that's a good start from Experian.
Only been at my current address since October 2010 so it's asking for my previous address.
Entered the (correct) postcode for my former residence and it's telling me it's not recognised. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

Sadly, it's only the score they're offering which is updated every sixty days:Barclaycard provides access to your Experian Credit Score. The Experian Credit Score itself, and the information about it are provided by Experian. Please note that you will see your score and general information about the factors that are likely to affect it. This is not a full credit report, and will not show details of your payment history, or events that have impacted your Experian Credit Score.0
