As this episode seems to be passing, I have taken the opportunity to use up leftovers and batch cook some food into the freezer. I mean, there's literally no negatives to doing your own ready made frozen meals, it's cheap, easy, healthy etc. I have done two cottage pies, 5 portions of savoury rice, portion of mash, two pots of hummus. I did however waste 4 eggs by dropping the box and smashing them into smithereens all over the floor, otherwise I would have baked a cake to freeze too.
Got 2 cinema tickets for 1000 nectar points so taking friend to see a film tonight, rechecked my money and I have messed up somewhere, I actually have £40 in the bills account which I "don't need". I overpaid the hulifax card £25 from the rdf, just because I'm moving bank accounts and if I were to accidentally miss the payment I would lose the interest free status and I can't risk that. So I still have around £20 to last until next week- too scared to use the full £40 in case I go overdrawn and miss my £5 bonus again.
I needd to change electric supplier but am finding it hard to get motivated!

  • All that domestic house stuff is a real pain to get organised but once you have it you feel loads better. Its always something isn't it! I think everyone drops stuff when cooking once im a while. I cooked spaghetti bol a few weeks ago, was very hungry and then at the last moment dropped the spaghetti in the sink which I had earlier cleaned with bleach. Epic fail. Had to boil all over again, so the eggs (i think) are part of the course. Love filling up my freezer, its a major help in paying off debt. xxxx

MBNA 1 is no more! I had to just pay the last £23 off to get rid of it, it was bugging me!
Money is in a total mess, not sure if I'm coming or going. Have expenses to claim from work, but probably don't have much cash left for the month. I will have to sort it out at the weekend. I splurged on some new tights and leggins and socks on payday:p such a treat!
I have been paying/saving £408 per month, just over 20% of my wages and more than 50% of my "spare" cash per month. I think it's a bit too much, I could do with a bit more cash for myself to be honest. But without MBNA 2, it reduces to 383. In 3 more pay packets it will hopefully be time to knock off a few grand of debt....as long as I get a job quickly. Otherwise I will have to live off my savings and stay in debt for years:eek: sounds scary? Not as scary as last year- ill, off sick, running out of access to cash with little income.

  • Didn't want to read and run, well done for getting rid of one of the cards! That extra bit each month will hopefully make a big difference!

Yay well done of getting rid of mbna :T

Nice little round up there Gonna, it's all adding up. And thanks for the tip abut Inb0x£s, I did much better in July thanks to you :T

Love Pinec0ne surveys, it's so lovely to not got screened out and get cash! Have you tried P0pulusLive? They pay well, when you don't get screened out, but you can only cash out at £50. I've earned £88 since the end of Jan with them :T

    Have a great week :)

  • Well last month I ran out of money the day after payday....this month I lasted almost 2 weeks :D
August is always a long month pay wise. I have spent the whole rdf and more on a prepay prescription certificate - kind of necessary I think:D
I have about £1 in each bank account, £18 in my purse and £32 owing from work, due Friday. So £50 for the next 16 days...I think it's unlikely to be enough. I also have £120 on the dibs card - no payment due until Sept. I'm not actually that worried though. I have loads of food, enough of what I need in general and I will overspend a bit. As I'm committed to paying £300 into the saver account until Oct to get the 6% interest, and I have to pay the minimum on the credit cards, it's going to leave me a bit short for the next few months. I should probably plan for it, to keep it in check.
It's nearly only two months until my job comes to an end. I've started making some enquiries for a new one. After October, when I can cut the debt in half, I think I will repay at a slightly slower rate so I can afford to live! And I'd like to save some "pots" like Ena, so I can pay for insurance in one go, or save for a new washing machine in case this one breaks.
Swaggy is at 1200 and inb0x£ on 11.70.

I got a place on another research project next week...£60 that will do nicely! Plus I took part in a swaggy which was worth 1000 points (fiver) maybe I can make it through the month unscathed?!

    1. I spelled "sure" as "sire" and I can't change it.
    2. I don't have any money coming in until payday, the 25th so 10 days, a week and a half.
The trouble isn't just that I've no money left, I have also overspent the equivalent of next month's money as well.
Part of me thinks I have done great in reducing spending, and part of me thinks that I still have not fully adjusted my mindset to "respect" money or budgeting. I'm still in a very "boom/bust" cycle.
Fortunately the overspend only costs a few pennies in overdraft interest, I only have two more payments to the saving account then I can revise my budget. I think also having no extra income makes it seem bleaker, no bay sales left to do, not ready to cash out any swaggy or inbox£s. I do have the survey on Tues hopefully that is £60 cash which I'll use to pay overdraft.
Still doing good with LTW last week used freezer goods. Have decided that emergency tin of soup is a rubbish standby as soup is not cheap (sorry I do buy brand names there, I tried cheaper and it was a no:p) so my new "emergency tin" is value rice pud £0.15p
