Thats what I wanted to know, but I dont think there is a way
I just make mine normally in that and melt some sugar and water in a pan
Then pour it over the popcorn, I could never make it in a pan, the corns would always burn.
I put some pepsi in a pan and boiled it for about 10 mins until it thickened, then poured it over the popcorn, pepsi/cola flavoured pop corn :D

I usually make the popcorn and then make the toffee separately and pour it over. The kids always fight for the last bit of toffee that has solidified in the bottom of the bowl :D

You need to use a fairly heavy bottomed pan, and once the oil is hot enough to add the kernels you turn it down to the lowest heat possible and wait for them all to go pop! Don't take the lid off though until they've stopped popping as the heat escapes and slows down the process. I usually end up with a few that fail to pop in the bottom but the rest come out lovely and fluffy and none of them are burnt ;)

Tried some cinnamon flavoured last night - was lovely and warming. Am going to try the rosemary and lemon at the weekend as a savoury version sounds very tempting.

  • I got a popcorn maker for Christmas! It came with a recipe book for various sorts and flavours but most include golden syrup in (which I'm not keen on) and other things like chocolate. I'm looking for a simple recipe for 'cinema style' sweet popcorn - no butterscotch or toffee of anything else.

Does anyone here make this and if so - how?

    thank u

On the back of the Waitrose popcorn kernals it says that you can make sweet pop corn by mixing icing sugar into the hot cooked popcorn. When I tried it the result was absolutly burning hot!! (but it was tasty when it eventually cooled down! :xmassmile
  • Just icing sugar? I'm going shopping tomorrow so will get some and give it a try.
  • does anyone know where you can buy popcorn kernals? i have a waitrose but its miles away :( anyone know of any other shops?
