  • Has anyone tried Nigella's party popcorn recipe with cinnamon, cumin and paprika, salt and sugar?
    http://www.thecooksjournal.co.uk/kitchen/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=262
Yes, the kids didn't like it:D Nor did I much -too many flavours going on.

The kids' favourite is where I throw a lump of butter and a tbsp of golden syrup in the empty hot pan after the corn has popped. Swirl it around till melted and toss with the popcorn. Sticky and delicious. Might make them some after school today.

  • Interested to try a parmesan version - any suggestions welcome - I guess very finely grated parmesan over the finished popcorn whilst hot? Very sticky though...
Not sticky enough actually EL. If you just sprinkle on dry Parmesan it all falls to the bottom of the bowl. You need melted butter as well;)

Smoked paprika is nice on popcorn too.

Tried that and it was yummy, thanks for the tip.

Any more ideas for savoury popcorn?
(I like to eat it with a beer/glass of white wine while watching a dvd/TV. :)

  • I used to make popcorn in a popcorn maker in the micro until DS in a temper threw it against a wall. Now I can't find anything to use to make popcorn in the micro. Any suggestions? I have used plastic containers, but most can't seem to handle the popcorn and melt.

That site is incredible. I really really spent a long time just looking here there and everywhere in it. I can not say thank you enough.

I use a glass pyrex bowl covered with clingfilm with a few holes poked in the clingfilm. A few bits of popcorn escape but most stay in the bowl. :) You can get glass pyrex bowls quite cheaply in Debenhams, BHS, supermarkets etc - eg:

Useful for all sorts of other stuff as well - I have two and use them a few times every week.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've just posted on the grab it now forum that Hannah Montana popcorn makers are £5 instead of £20 at Wilkinsons but now I need some ideas to make some nice popcorn.

I just tried chocolate chips mixed with marshmallows which was ok but I think I should have used smaller marshmallows and bigger choc chips!

We just put a slug of veg oil in the bottom of a pan, cover the base with a single layer of kernels and then pop - you get a full pan from that. I sift icing sugar over mine - a little goes a long way and it's always a big hit.
