Both my sons are currently at different unis doing different courses but both have opted to spend their third year abroad. My elder son is currently at Hamburg uni and will move on to St Petersburg uni in Feb. The younger one will spend his year abroad in either Ameruca Canada Hong Kong or Australia.....youngsters these days have such wonderful opportunities to travel and explore !

My brother did his final year in Alaska then his Masters in Hawai'i, he now lives in Alabama. He is an assistant professor of geophysics in the university there!

I took my dgd to pony class she rides the horse for 30 minutes and the other 3 and a half hours are spent learning how to groom and clean up after horses ....but i could have cried for her ...she is only 4 ...and after i signed her in she went flying down to the sofa where a girl was sitting as soon as she got there the girl went to join a group sitting on the floor so my dgd followed but no space for her to sit so unperturbed she goes to the next group who were probably 12-14 year olds and even though she said hi no one spoke back to her ...so gathering no one would talk to her she just went and stood in the middle of the room alone watching and waiting for the adult to start the class off ...at this point i wanted to run in tell her i would buy a pony for her so she didnt have to be the cuckoo in the nest ... i was teary all the way home bless her

Thanks again to David. I am now the proud owner of a Samsonite case, which even my DH aka 'the love of my life :happyhear' and someone I am not worthy of and have literally no idea how I hang on to :o is impressed with. Not to mention the tin of Quality Street which goes into the Christmas box.

    Congratulations to your DD. :T

Has anyone's child done Camp America or a similar programme? DS wants to do it next year. I don't know whether to encourage him to do it, as it does cost quite a lot to do (you basically break even from what I've read after paying out all your costs) or whether he should look at trying to get work in this country - maybe at the YHA camps (think Mhoc's DS did this?) or Kings Camp (we have one 2 minutes away) or PGL etc.

He has a CACHE Level 2 Childcare qualification and is now doing Level 3, which is a 2 year course. He is a qualified RLSS lifeguard, and is a young leader with cubs and woodcraft folk. His ultimate aim is to work in the kids clubs on Disney Cruise Line, but he cant do that til he is 21. He will be 18 in November.
I met my now DH/Grumpy old Git working at PGL over 40 years ago:eek: I would recommenced it, but would also recommend anything to beef up the Cv in relation to his aim.
Neighbour's daughter has just returned from working Camp America, she was a bit disappointed with her experience, but don't know the details.
