LS...CAMP AMERICA has been going for years...I've several friends who did it back in the late 80's and early 90's and really benefited from the experience....but I cant comment on what its like nowadays.

I do however have the view that any international experience is good and actually broadens the mind, body and soul beyond that possibly achieved on home soil.

DS1 is looking towards uni next year and has chosen only courses that will provide one year of international study,or a foreign work placement so I think its something that is much more easy to do and less daunting for youngsters today than perhaps when we were making those types of choices.
Both my sons are currently at different unis doing different courses but both have opted to spend their third year abroad. My elder son is currently at Hamburg uni and will move on to St Petersburg uni in Feb. The younger one will spend his year abroad in either Ameruca Canada Hong Kong or Australia.....youngsters these days have such wonderful opportunities to travel and explore !

Fairclaire ....I have a one of those smart fone bought especially to use as

scanner etc etc ... but i cant read it in store i have to have a magnifying glass to read it and the first couple of times i tried to use it ...took me so long to take a picture i thought i was going to get thrown out of sada for either loitering or touting for business

Thanks again to David. I am now the proud owner of a Samsonite case, which even my DH aka 'grumpy old git' is impressed with. Not to mention the tin of Quality Street which goes into the Christmas box.
