MSE_Anthony wrote: »Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your feedback. A few people have already been in touch with us to voice their concerns, and in each case we've passed their comments on to our contact at LivingSocial - we've then suggested those people go to LivingSocial's customer service team directly for further assistance.
As you all know, we do always conduct thorough research on any deals we feature on our site and in the weekly email - we don't just throw stuff out there willy-nilly. And our users getting the best deal possible is paramount to everything we do.
We made sure LivingSocial could provide us with an invoice from their supplier, to show us the stock was genuine and originally purchased direct from Ralph Lauren. However, if you're not convinced of its authenticity - or for any other reason you're not happy with the quality of the goods - you should make your concerns known to LivingSocial as soon as possible.
Obviously the last thing we want is for anyone to feel they've lost out because of this deal, so MSE will continue working behind the scenes with the team at LivingSocial (we have almost daily contact with them at the moment), to make sure our users get any issues resolved promptly.
The phone number is (020) 3356 0899 or you can use Twitter, or help page on its site.
Hope that's helpful
Appreciate your reply also and I reported my concerns to LivingSocial and returned the item. They were adamant the jumpers were genuine and attributed the poor quality to them being 'outlet quality' which is not how they were described, never mind the fact the logo looks suspect, one tag belongs to an oxford shirt and the other looked like it was printed at home!
I think your team need to get your hands on some of these jumpers and verify their authenticity with Ralph Lauren. I can assure you there is no way these are genuine.
Personally I have been temporarily credited by my credit card for the restocking and delivery fees that LivingSocial refused to refund. They have 60 days to challenge this so I will update in due course.0 -
I have been to a few Ralph Lauren outlets and the quality is certainly no different to the full-price stores, I don't think they even sell 'seconds' items with minor faults or returns, it's just end-of line/last season stuff.
It's probably worth somebody emailing RL, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to look at any photos, and I expect they'd even pay the postage for one to be sent in. BUT we aware I think they have the right to retain anything they deem counterfeit, but obviously you would then have cast-iron paperwork to go back to the retailer with.
And yes, if it's counterfeit the buyer shouldn't pay postage or restocking fees, I'm amazed that anybody is accepting that. PayPal don't even require that a counterfeit item is returned to the seller - this is for two reasons: firstly it discourages the fraud by the seller losing their stock, secondly in some countries it's illegal to send counterfeit items by post so the buyer would be committing an offence.0 -

The LivingSocial team
I've also arrived home tonight and had a delivery of a Ralph Lauren polo shirt that was on promotion some ten days ago on Livingsocial's site. Unfortunately, you've supplied me with a fake here too. Something that would be more akin from aliexpress.com!
Can you explain what sort of vetting you do? It can't be that rigorous, can it?
Will be calling for a full refund too.0 -
Someone needs to send photos to Ralph Lauren email given above with a link to this thread. That will end the argument one way or another.
Who were the actual company on living social?0 -
Phoned Livingsocial after raising a complaint via PayPal.
They've refunded my order and NOT asked for the goods back.
Does this not seem like an admission of guilt on the behalf of Livingsocial without actually admitting they were promoting fake goods?0 -
A few weeks ago, I commented about this on HUKD and on an MSE "Wowcher Ralph Lauren" thread (I purchased my RL v-neck sweater from Wowcher - the "Polo" labels are the same from both Wowcher and LivingSocial). This is what I found when I did some digging online, contacted Ralph Lauren UK (with photos) and Wowcher themselves....Thought I'd have a peek on here to see if there was any discussion (I'm wondering, also, if the Living Social Ralph Lauren offer is the same stock?).
TL;DR: I got a refund from Wowcher straightaway, no comment from them other than an offer of Wowcher Credit, which meant I didn't need to return the V-neck jumper I bought. Not sure I can give a likely-fake jumper as a gift!!.
I posted pictures and comments here http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ralph-lauren-shirt-jumpers-28-99-wowcher-coggles-2279324?p=26089775
A few HUKD members are insistent they'd checked with Ralph Lauren and had their Wowcher purchases verified as counterfeit. I emailed Ralph Lauren UK myself, but they gave a rather neutral response, saying they couldn't confirm or deny authenticity.
What really raised my eyebrows was the website below (using the "RA" stock codes Wowcher displays on their link) http://www.wowcher.co.uk/nationwide/national-deal/deal-422082-detail/25-instead-85-polo-ralph-lauren-men-s-long-sleeve/deal.html
Quote:
When I put the "RA" number listed on the Wowcher link in Google (mine is "RA6699274" for the turquoise V-neck) this site comes up http://www.by-moda.com/Wholesale-Ralph-Lauren-Jerseys-Pullover/RA6699274.html
http://www.by-moda.com/Ralph-Lauren.html
Note all of the RL items have that very same (fake?) Polo label which I have suspicions about.
Not sure what sort of retailer they are, but their website doesn't look too prestige!
I realise MSE stated recently (about the Living Social/Ralph Lauren offer) http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/ralph-lauren
Quote:
Is this legit? Ralph Lauren jumpers for £35 might sound a bit too good to be true, so we asked LivingSocial to confirm these are 100% genuine Ralph Lauren stock. It told us: "We purchase these jumpers from a trusted supplier. He can only supply into us when he provides proof that these items are non-counterfeit."
LivingSocial also showed us an invoice to prove the jumpers were originally bought direct from Ralph Lauren. If you'd rather buy direct yourself, you can use this Ralph Lauren 20% off code to save money on most items from the official site (though prices are much higher there to begin with).
Curious to hear the feedback from the Living Social/Ralph Lauren deal!0 -
Got an email earlier from LivingSocial advertising their Ralph Lauren sweaters! And so it goes on....

has nobody gone to Trading Standards with these fakes?0
-
WOW MSE'S response was a RIDICULOUS cop-out. Basically 'Take it up with LS, it's nothing to do with us'. Scandalous.
Happy to cash in on the commission through each click and purchase though...0
