Translation, they have debited each of the four accounts with 500k a piece. Total in theory owed to Barclays 2 million. I assume all online access blocked. Previously working accounts effectively frozen. Staff cannot do anything or say anything, just stonewall. AML at work.

Inconvenient if you have a business to run, staff to pay, bills to pay, mortgage to pay, petrol to buy, food to buy ........... And like others, it's always Barclays I've heard that deal with AML investigations in this particular fashion.

OP, if true, there is absolutely nothing you can do except wait it out. Oh, and pray the business is still there when it's resolved.

How can a savings account be overdrawn? so no he does not in theory owe Barclays this money.

Goldiegirl - I dont mind the asking of questions. Like you said it helps. But there have been people on here who are commenting that this is a joke.

meer53 - I have one personal training business (I have my owe gym which I might have to close because of this). And one internet business.

    I cannot take this seriously.

I own my own business and if I though my business was in danger of closing down because of this my solicitor would be banging on their door!!

    It can at Barclays.

OK, he owes £1.5M (3x£500K). Does this make any difference?

I am no expert, but aren't solicitors very expensive and do they not like taking money even when they know that they can't change anything? And, if Barclays are acting within the (stupid) law, there is no chance of recovering the solicitor's fees via legal actions.

(I tried to post an image but it wont let me because I'm a new user) This is a screen shot from the text alerts i get from my personal account.
When posting the link insert spaces to kill it (the image has to be uploaded to one of image hosting sites first, e.g. photobucket.

Do you have texts only? Is online access blocked?

I agree with this 100% - I run my own business too.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

All part of running a business incurring solicitors fees and tax deductible.

I would be taking my advice from them not from a forum on the internet.

It does not seem the OP has done anything more than go into the branch and yet says he might lose his business.

Has he even tried to open an account elsewhere?

I have accounts with three different banks.

If you have a complaint reference number, which you should have been given at the time of complaint, you can track the progress, here is the information how.

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

To agrinnall and firefox1956, I dont think you have read the whole thread
    - I stated this earlier.

I don't know about Firefox but yes, I did read it, however there are ways round it so unless you post something that we can use to prove that this is a real story then I'm sticking with wind up.

Well, AFAIK free business accounts are rare if not extinct, but I guess the OP will be wiser from now on.
