No way would someone who has all that money come to a forum such as this for advice and not have a personal advisor at the bank and an accountant.

My guess is the OP is trying to quiz people.

I don't buy it, If it doesn't feel right then it isn't right.
  • Easy - there is no actual transaction showing when i log into my online banking. I only see the balance of £49X,XXX.

I have been into the bank. I havent lost my temper but no one can help in there. I am now recording all my calls and mentioned to the complaints department that they will be hearing from my lawyer if this is not sorted this week.

I also agree, you need to go into your branch, ask for your account manager or a senior member of staff, and make it clear (calmly, but firmly) that you need an explanation, you will not leave until you have one.
Waste of time. Branches' staff are powerless.
Explain that you cannot operate your business, and must get this sorted out today.
Do you really think they give a !!!!? Regardless, even if they do, they can't do anything. AML pinkertons are law in themselves and, even if it's possible to contact them, they are certainly the ones that can't care less.

I take it is a NEGATIVE balance?
Are you sure there are no payments to either 'S Blatter' or 'G Osborne' ???

This issue comes up every now and again both on this forum and others.

I am led to believe this is the method that Barclays use to freeze your accounts.

Usually there will be a transaction/series of transactions in question which they have had to report to the NCA because they have good reason to believe that the funds have come from the proceeds of crime. They have a legal obligation to do this and they would require consent from the NCA before proceeding. The NCA makes an initial decision within 7 working days about whether the bank can proceed with the specified transactions. If the NCA decide that the bank cannot, then the NCA has a further 31 calendar days to make further investigations or take further action.

Can't you do a list of the last 10 transactions or something, rather than just getting a balance.

An account can't have £1 in it one day, and be £499999 overdrawn the next day, without some sort of transaction happening on the account
