I think RJ for £400 was relevant. The OP may not have considered a stop in ME, however if the price was right they may have. They have now booked Emirates, which stop in Dubai, yes?
Similarly BC for a grand may sway people to up their budget that little bit.0 -

No, you are wrong....because you haven't been following the the thread.
They stop in Dubai and fly on to HKT and SIN. RJ stops and flies on only to BKK.
Initially, the OP wanted direct flights to either HKT or SIN....in June.
Once they realised there was no direct flight to/from HKT in June, they accepted the alternative option to fly one stop to/from HKT.
richardw came up with options for airlines that fly one stop to/from HKT and Emirates was selected.
Once it was clear as to the preferred itinerary of the OP, richardw suggested open jaw.
At that point I also priced up THAI Airways to illustrate the alternative option of a long haul and a short haul against two six to seven hour flights.
So two stops each way were never in the frame, regardless of price. RJ is not an attractive option for the OP...even if they could save a couple of hundred pounds.. Two stops both ways(not even including the internal flights BKK - SIN - HKT - BKK) and an unavoidable six hour plus stop on the way back with two children.... seven flights instead of five. Likely RJ wouldn't be cheaper anyway, as you would have to add flight to HKT and SIN anyway.
The OP's original idea was to fly direct to SIN and to purchase a separate return flight to HKT. But after missing the BA sale, the prices aren't currently as attractive. So the open jaw option opened an avenue for them., adding only one more flight to their itinerary.
If the OP was happy to fly with two stops as with RJ, they could save a considerable amount by flying with Turkish Airlines. Currently around £1275 return to SIN via travel agent for the four of them. That would have six segments, as opposed to seven with RJ. Short stopovers too.0 -
Thank-you everyone, the discussion has been helpful.
We've made our choices but now can't manage to book them. For some reason it won't go through the website. I phoned and nearly booked but it came up more expensive if I booked over the phone. So frustrating.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

Same situation with all Browsers? Which have you tried? Perhaps a security setting blocking the payment. perhaps Pop-ups are blocked.0 -

Tried IE and Chrome, three different computers, 2 different Emirates accounts, 2 different payment cards + paypal.
I honestly can't think of what else to try except to book through an agent. I was really hoping the lady on the phone would know why it wouldn't go through rather than just try to book it herself for more money.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

Frustrating. Had the same situation with Malaysian Airlines where they charged me 10% more over the phone. i wasn't impressed.
Have you tried replicating the booking with an online travel agent? Unfortunately, they usually have some sort of card fee and more restrictive conditions.0 -

Try sta travel, they often have the flights online (rather than the kaffufle of ringing up) and I'm sure you can book direct with them (keep persevering with Emirates though as it might be just the systems down. I had a similar problem with trave lodge the other day when a room shown a good price and reasonable then it played up)
Actually thinking about it Emirates has a thing with halifax where you get a percentage back in cashback, might be worth having a look on there just in case it's on yours as I think it wasn't bad either:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

I can confirm code does work and makes prices pretty competitive. Thai Itinerary posted earlier 4/6 to 20/6 would come in at around 19450
