    Yeah, I agree. He should have been stoned to death. That would've taught him.

    But as you said he wasn't stable-no that wouldn't have been a good idea.

    You weren't asking questions OP, you were interfering in a situation that was nothing to do with you.

    I asked the store detective whether Morrison’s would prosecute someone who is so unwell. She repeated ‘unwell?’ I asked the store manager, Darren, if Morrison’s prosecute someone who is so unwell. He replied ‘he’s not unwell he’s drunk’. Darren then stood with his back to me, between myself and the elderly man on the floor still being forced to pull out stolen products, as though to obscure my view of the situation. I asked if he was the store manager, and for his name. I saw on his tab that it was Darren, I asked him to confirm that. He said yes, and asked me in an irritable manner, if I had an issue. At this point I left, with the elderly man still being forced to pull out everything from all pockets, etc.

    I called the store on 0207 700 4744, and asked to speak to the manager, Mr Michael Achilleos. Faith asked what the complaint was concerning. I outlined the incident and she said something about mentioning it to him. I don’t know if she meant Mr Achilleos or the store manager, Darren. But she explained that Mr Achilleos will not be available until Wednesday.

    Is it not most stores policies to take suspected shop lifters to a back room in order to check for stolen items? He wasn’t resisting emptying his pockets, so I can’t see that he would have resisted being taken to a back room. Had he been taken to the back it would have been unnecessary for the store manager, Darren, to try to obscure my view of the incident in such a rude way.

    Seeing an elderly man treated in this shocking way was extremely disturbing and upsetting and my opinion of Morrison’s has diminished considerably.

    I wrote to the CEO Mr David Potts
    'david.potts-ceo@morrisonsplc.co.uk stating If he check the CCTV which covers the entrance to the grocery section, between the times of 3.50pm to 4.30 pm, he will see the incident for yourself, but received no reply.

    The funniest thing is that (and maybe I'm going back to the 80s or earlier here) if you take the old man "into the back" for shoplifting then god knows what is going to happen to him!

    Probably better for the guy's safety that it all happened at the front of the store where there are witnesses and CCTV cameras.

    It was basically a Supermarket bashing thread but completely ill thought out.

    My sympathies are entirely with the staff for having to deal with a drunken thief in front of a nosy do-gooder with nothing better to do. For all we know they may have this problem with this customer every day of the week.

    Poor customer service.
    I believe the correct response should have been " Mind you own effing business you nosy ****"
    But responding with " Do you have an issue" and blocking the ops view. Shocking.:D:D
