Filling the car up.........

Only ever fill my tank to full or even halfway when there is a really good deal to be had.

Usually put £10 a week in the tank and keep eye firmly on fuel gauge as sometimes use more than this. Never have to make a trip out especially for fuel as would resent wasting the fuel, even though we have a supermarket forecourt a mile away! That's still roughly 20p wasted......OUuuuCH?! I'm such a skinflint or is that skint flint?!!!!:rotfl:
Always make sure I pick up fuel on the way when making a necessary journey.

Same with food shopping. Plan so that I hardly ever have to make special trips out to get something, the times I do slip up I usually make do with something I've already got in. I plan my shopping days around where I am and what shops there are on the way through to home.:D
I get roughly ten miles out for every £1 of diesel. Is that good? It's an old K Reg vehicle.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. :A

    You will waste fuel if:

You have too much stuff in the car (see filling up the tank)
    Your tyres are under-inflated
    You brake too heavily
You have the A/C on all the time
You accelerate like a boyracer to red lights (pointless annoying thing i see all the time)

When you fill up how many times do you let the pump 'click' before you are sure it is full.I only do it to the first click but i have seen people click away to make sure they get every last precious drop in their tank.

    ym

I always try to squeeze enough in to round up to the nearest 50p after the pump's clicked the first time - but then I'm just anal like that :rotfl:

When I do put petrol, I usually put in about £2 worth less than I think would fill the tank.

As a motorcycle rider, the thought of overfilled fuel lying on the ground infuriates me.

I never put an exact amount in (such as £40.00 but more £39.83 or something) so I know immediately exactly what the money was spent on.

When the thingy clicks it's full, anything past that and you are just wasting money because the tank is full and those extra drops of petrol just run of somewhere. (Cousin's a mechanic)

Around £25.00 every fortnight to fill up and it gets used mostly at work.

  • I fill mine up when I get paid. But OH only puts a bit in at a time. his theory is that if the car gets nicked at least they won't get his petrol too.
