Filling the car up.........

I fill up, then start looking for opportunities to refill once I get to the half/two-thirds empty point. Luckily, I pass one of the cheapest petrol stations in town fairly regularly, so I don't need to shop around for prices. If I did, I'd probably use the half to two-thirds interval to keep an eye open for good prices.
I also tend to fill up before a long journey, just in case.0 -
i got myself a small car a few months ago...usually have estates or mpv's in the past, but was fed up with the costs..so now 25 quid fills mine up near enough and that lasts just over 2 weeks
for anyone tempted by Total service stations new offer ( fill your car up to get an extra 30 miles out of the tank compared to other fuels)...i wouldnt bother...my sister works for them and its a waste of time....tho would be good to hear from anyone who has called their bluff and actually claimed the difference back from them ?Bring back mark and lard NOW! or else (please) clique member no. 10 :j

It's the same principle as driving around with a boot full of stuff that you don't need. The heavier the car, the more fuel it must use to get around.
Not that I know what 45 litres of V-Power fuel weighs................0 -
I put £20 a month in and usually have some left, so eventually I have the occasional free month.............mind you we only use the car when we have to having bus passes does have its advantages!!!!!!!!September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

When to fill the tank is an exact science if you are A) a Formula One racing technician or
very anally retentive about fuel consumption. But I suppose the principle is the same.
Fuel is sold in litres, and at roughly £1 per litre, say you fill up with £40 of fuel, that's 40 litres of fuel. Imagine carrying around 40 cartons of orange juice in the boot? It would be the weight of a child i reckon."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -

I fill up a full tank at a time. I have to do it twice a month and I hate going to the petrol station so it's easiest for me to do it as few times as possible!
I use my mum's Asda credit card and transfer however I spend over to her account so again, the fewer transactions, the more it suits me. It gets me 2p a litre off fuel so I'm only paying 89.9p a litre at the moment
