Maximum number of Halifax current accounts?

Hi
Since I cannot find the answer anywhere, does anybody know if there is a current total number of Halifax current accounts of any kind eg 2 reward + 1 normal etc.

I currently have 3 reward current accounts in my name paying £5/month from a number of years ago, plus 1 Easycash account from the days when Ryanair gave discount for Visa Electron!

Reason I'm asking is since I've noticed there is a switch incentive of £125 to their normal current account with no DDs required, was wondering if it's worth trying to open this in addition to above accounts?

I looked at this last week and the T&Cs I found said that you could only have 1 Reward account (plus a joint). I didn't look at any other account types sorry.

As I already have a Reward Account, but did not switch to it, I'm simply switching to that and as far as I can tell that will get me the £125.

Apparently it is paid 3 (working?) days after the switch, and my switch date is tomorrow, so I'll report back early next week on whether I have been paid.

Editted to add - I think was where I found that. See page 50 http://static.halifax.co.uk/assets/pdf/bankaccounts/pdf/reward-current-account-guide.pdf
  • Thanks very much for that link very useful, was kind of aware of only 1 reward account in sole name per person. That document implies you can have 3 normal accounts, I guess it's just a case of whether it might blow my cover on the 3 reward accounts I currently have....
  • Just realised what's been said above!, according to this link :-
    halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/current-accounts/reward-current-account/

To qualify for the £125 switching offer (“the offer”) you must use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ and meet the following conditions:
•Use the 'Current Account Switch Service' to switch into a new or existing Reward Current Account, Ultimate Reward Current Account (£15 monthly fee) or Halifax Current Account ("your account").

So as was suggested switching to one of my existing reward accounts may be the best way to bag £125.

If you haven't received cashback previously since 2012 for switching, you should be OK.

This is correct you dont have to open a new current account to get the £125, you can switch to existing current account as long as you agree your account you are switching from is closed as part of the CASS application and you haven't had an incentive before.

Just confirming that I got the £125 for switching to an existing Reward account - and it was paid promptly 3 days after the switch date.

Any standard current account, will work for the switching, with or without DD.
