I went on ebay looking for a second hand electric cooker once - Ended up buying a 24 foot cabin cruiser !
Edited to add - that the fault is likely to be either the heating element or the thermostat - neither of which are the end of the world to fit.
oooh I like your style.
In my last rented flat, the heating element went on our oven. the landlord said it would cost too much to repair and bought us a new oven? go figure... I wasn't complaining. not my money - well in a way it was, our rent money0 -

My top oven is working, the hob is working and I have a slow cooker which I forget about so I should be able to use these till I pick a new one. Also I have an actifry.... Doesn't seem so bad this morning

Have you had a thought about putting an ask on your local free cycle (or the equivalent where you are).
Also Gumtree might have something.
In this area there are three shops that sell recon white goods - maybe you can Google for some in your area.
If you still want to buy new then maybe have a look around the cash back sites.
Coming up to the 'C' time lots of large white goods are offered for sale.
We also have that mad sale Friday or is it Monday in November don't we. I'm sure someone will know what I mean, when lots of things go for silly prices.Procrastinater wrote: »I went on ebay looking for a second hand electric cooker once - Ended up buying a 24 foot cabin cruiser ! :eek:I am confused..
First the good news - I have made about £45 selling my old CDs, DVDs and books to various companies so I must thank Aesop for posting a list of links a few pages back. The £45 is if everything is accepted so I won't count it yet.
Now to the subject of my confusion... I started with 3 large boxes of stuff. I've sorted through it and sent 3 medium boxes off to be exchanged for cash, I've taken 3 carrier bags full to Oxfam, and I've put about 2 carrier bags in the bin (CD cases without CDs etc).
Yet I still seem to have as much junk piled up on my living room floor as I did when I started... and now I have no energy to sort it out.
If it takes three men six days to dig a hole, how many ........?£10day.2014=3213/2015=3421/2016=3238/2017=2702/2018=498..APR=12.03/300

A cruiser?? How did that pan out then?? I'm curious :rotfl:
It is the element yes. Been online to look for a price, and spoke to a qualified electrician to fit and to be honest I would rather just buy new for the cost. It has served me VERY well for 10 years (bought with our wedding money) so time for a new one. Haven't ordered one yet.... Will be spending the week looking for the best deal I can find! :rotfl:

Weell - I put in "Electric cooker" and it kept popping up caravans - 'cos they have cookers in and electrics
So I told it "No caravans" - SO then this boat pops up ! ('cos it has electrics and a cooker..." ) - Anyway it was cheap (by boat standards) - so I says to 'er - "How do you fancy a boat then ? " - Neither of us knew anything about them (and OH can't swim) but we decided it's much like a caravan with an engine, so we had a bid and won it ! We still have one, but not the same one.
Then it cost me £140 for the cooker we also found - Dearest cooker I ever bought ! (and actually even without the cost of the boat - It IS the dearest cooker I ever bought ! ):rotfl:
That was about 6 years ago, when money wasn't an issue ! Speaking of which I found $160 US, which I'd forgotten to cash when we got back from a holiday, in an envelope yesterday when I was mucking out some junk ! - Nice little Roadkill there for my Novemeber fund methinks !0 -

It's not surprising really, It's not really something "Electricians" do - more the line which the people who run those second hand shops somebody mentioned do (I was one for a time) .0 -
I know DH could do it himself, however he doesn't want to and is strongly against it. He is a gas engineer and has seen too many things go wrong when people use handymen or cowboys. He also like to support the local trades as they do him. He is very much a "safe" person, which I can't blame him due to the nature of his job.

Is it just me or is the thread very quiet this month? A lot of the regulars seem to have disappeared:eek:. Sorry not been around much myself lately, I've had a lot on.
Still plodding on very slowly but don't think I'll reach my target this month. Still, anything gained is a bonus so I shouldn't grumble:o. Since last update have £17.72 to add from Amazon sales, £5 Amazon vouchers and £5 Love2Shop vouchers received from surveys, a total of £27.72.
Well done to all money-makers. Good Luck for what's left of the month, everyone:beer:.0
