  • I know it's early,but what are we doing for November,theme wise?Please have a think.

    Guy Fawkes?

That's all I can think of just now.

We could have a remembrance poppy for the 'in a row' challenge?

Good morning shipmates! Are we ready for our trip ashore to look for the treasure?

Oh dear, a few sore heads this morning - Chief Medical Officer Doyle is already on the case with extra strong tea and Chef is ready with the extra hot spiced rum tincture, so line up, you varmints! And where is Tiddles? We are infested with rats and voles, and the ship's cat is nowhere to be seen....

What's that, Igor? He's lying on your bed nursing a hangover....boy, that must have been some party last night........Right, volunteers for getting Tiddles off Igor's bed...three of us should do it......

Got the car back today, cost three times as much as budgeted due to needing a new radiator and exhaust, but it goes like a dream now. At least I had savings put aside for this sort of thing, savings which have been depleted but at least that will give me an incentive to hunt for NSDs next month!

Tumble dryer part arrived today - the wrong bit. In the process of sorting replacement from elsewhere, claiming a refund and arranging return of said wrong part. Numpties!

Small supermarket shopping delivery today (ordered so I don't have to schlepp around food shopping more than necessary) and got a few quid knocked off with a voucher that expires today, so pleased about that.

Sun shining brightly, about to prepare Italian style pork meatballs in tomato sauce with pasta for our dinner tonight.

Struggling with the NSDs this month due to various things beyond my control, but will keep at it.

Come on, Igor, get digging! You are certain the treasure is buried here? Hmm, the map suggests it is.......I see Chef is making good progress with our barbecue, he managed to get some feral chickens with his bazookie thing, and Helga and Olga are busy preparing loads of salady bits to go with the barbecued chicken. Tiddles! Stop stalking the barbecue and sort those pesky voles out, they have been at our rum rations again!

Hubert, stop poncing about with your stilettos - just because somebody nicked your spanx pants and used them to fix the hole in the hammock (caused by an incident involving Tiddles, Igor and a ship's rat) doesn't mean you can play the drama queen! We are supposed to be bloodthirsty pirates for Pete's sake!

(What, Igor? Who's Pete? Igor, just get on with digging that hole before I bury you in it.)

National Pomegranate Month in the United States

Feast Day of St. Martin of Tours (Sint Maarten in the Netherlands and Sankt Martin in Germany); this is celebrated with parades in which the children carry lanterns, which they continue to carry as they go from door to door singing traditional songs for candy, which tradition arises from the same roots as trick-or-treating on Halloween, when people used to go around collecting "soul cakes". The parades usually feature a man in the costume of a Roman centurion on a horse and end with a reenactment of the old legend of the Saint dividing his cloak to share it with a beggar.
