Morning all,
Sorry I didn't get back on last night to update but I was wiped out and ended up asleep from about 3pm. I even sent DH to do the shopping with my list. I think it was a real eye opener for him because he spent over £90 buying 'off list' - I went through the receipt with him and if he'd just bought what I'd put on the list it would have been £42. See how much of a lesson he learns - thankfully he paid with his own money.
Thankfully I feel quite a bit better this morning (touch wood) - still coughing but the fuzzy head has gone.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

Hi all
What a lovely day. Washing out in the sunshine. Been into town with OH, he wanted some materials for a job he is doing. Ended up with some posh bread from the bakery that I wouldnt have bought if I had been on my own but managed to go into Lidl without any extras going in the basket.
Hugs to those with coughs and colds. I am off to put a mountain of clean washing away then sit down for a bit.0 -

Hi
My third attempt in as many days to post. The joys of rural broadband!
Busy yesterday, lots of work done outside enjoying the lovely weather.
Today spent sleeping. All day. My week of conferences has caught up with me! Anyway I will be right now for next week.
Have a good one everyone.

Hello Frugal Friends,
Very useful city centre trip today. Have just spent nearly an hour trying to get the various different budgets straight. It does take a bit of time, but if I don't do it, I can't really see the point budgeting as it wouldn't really be possible to keep tabs on everything. Anyway, the money saving bits of today:
*Did laundry overnight on cheapo tariff. All dried on the line in the sunshine (once the thick fog had gone).
*Made sure we had breakfast before going out & took a modest packed lunch so as not to waste money on very average sandwichy-type stuff.
*Made use of Body Shop code for 40% off to get a couple of my favourite moisturisers. These have gone up in price to £18 & £20. I stopped buying them for a year & tried lots of different cheaper ones, but my skin didn't look as good & I was also finding I was having to use more than twice as much product. Decided to go back to Body Shop, but only to buy when really good offer on. That day was today! Code for 40% off, plus usual 10% discount with my loyalty card meant that I got the £18 one for £2.20.
*Used M&S code for 5 x points on some small essential purchases. Had to use CC to qualify so did so, & paid it off straight away when I got home, from Clothes Piggy.
*Bought a Christmas present for nephew. Later, I spotted that I could have had an additional item for half price with my purchase. Took it to till & asked them to honour it as I hadn't seen the offer. No problems. Result = 2 nice presents for nephew for decent price.
*mr f refused to pay £55 for a hoodie in M&S. It was a nice one, but he said he would look in Sainsbury's as he only wants it for casual. Discovered Sainsbury's has 25% off all clothing at the moment. He found a hoodie he really liked plus a nice shirt for work. Got 25% off AND used Sainsbury's gift cards to pay, earned from Toluna surveys........which meant........
*........we saved the Clothes Pig £21, so I PAD'd that across to the Car Fund.
*Paid another 50p into my sealed pot.
*Free fresh air & exercise this afternoon re-planting large pots from front garden. Enough pansies left over together with some recycled ivy from another pot meant I'd got enough for a hanging basket too.
*mr f mended the broken broom. I thought it was a goner this time but he managed to repair it. While doing this, he also managed to stab himself in the hand with a screw driver. Despite being a very big hairy type, he tends to faint at the sight of blood (his own, not mine, lol!), so I had to dive for a bandage so as to cover up the red stuff before he could go all weird. I can't move him if he conks out, so have to act quickly. Anyway, he's alright now & is cooking dinner & listening to a freaky-sounding podcast. And I've got a functioning broom :-)
OK, that's today's money saving efforts. Apart from making tomorrow's packed lunch later, that is it.
Cheers all,
