Saturday 26th/Sunday 27th What small debt free wannabee things will you do today?

When we start our debt free journies we concentrate on doing the big things. Cutting up the credit cards. Cancelling the sky subscription. But along the way the daily habits we evolve to get out and stay out of debt are just as important. Examples might be, line drying your washing instead of using a tumble drier. Stretching your food to do 1 more meal. Not throwing away good waste. Having cosy blankets on the sofa instead of just putting the heating on. The list is endless. Come and join in with your own motivations and small things lists

Morning to all the regular runners and riders, & a big hello to any new faces.
My list for today
1. Last night I went to Mr T after 7pm and got some great YS bargains. 1 item I was particularly pleased with was a punnet of yellow nectarines reduced to only 40p. I really like them at the moment. Saving of 60p on usual punnet price.
2. Will be making a packed lunch for OH and son to take to dance class later this morning. Will include a pack of 23p finger rolls also from same hoard.
3. Posting back a copy of the Complete Cheapskate Gazette to a fellow MSEr who very kindly lent it to me months back. I've read it cover to cover (1,000) pages and picked out all the tips that work for me. Although it was written in the 90's by an American author, anyone who can raise 6 kids with an amazing living standard, on 1 salary, whilst saving around a quarter of that low salary annually is still relevant today. I recommend.
4. Taking back Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to avoid fines. We are on a Roald Dahl run at the moment, now doing James and the Giant Peach. I think we are also in line for a free dvd hire from saving our book rewards.
5. Cycle all journies to save bus fare.
6. May avail self of the free coffee at Mr W whilst son is at dance. They also sent me some £3 off a £15 shop coupons a few weeks ago so I will see if it makes any sense to use them today. We don't often use Mr W because it's not near our home. And the perception is it's more expensive. But their basics items are not too badly priced.
7. Have got up and dressed ourselves warmly (son in new shark bargain £8 onsie) to avoid the cold lounge this morning. OH having a lay in.
8. Dinner will be leftover lamb stew from 2 nights back. May put some new potatoes with it.
9. Will womble any reciepts I can today whilst out and about.
10. Check if enough veg scraps to do a pot of stock later.
Have a great day all.

Morning all
Thanks for the start Bob.
List for today:
Used up remaining berries in fridge with my breakfast porridge (done)
Scoot upstairs in a minute to wash my hair Done
Big job on today, I need to clear out my (old) sales unit as I have now taken over the new one. As I bought remaining stock from the outgoing holder of my new unit, I will have to bring a lot of stuff back and find somewhere to put it  This will mean buying more storage boxes. Hoping to get these for no more than £20 altogether from the cheap shop in town. Got 4 boxes and moved slightly more than half of it, so I will probably need to get moreStill, I will use them over and over again for storing and shifting stuff, so it doesn't really matter. A valid business expense for HMRC purposes in any case
Continue to use up all the food we have hanging around rather than making or buying more. I was given a selection of leftovers from the Macmillan coffee morning event that we held at the shop yesterday, and we already had a lot in (mostly HG / HM, as I haven't done much shopping this week). It won't get wasted though! No spends on foodApart from the business spends above, I bought something that OH will love for his birthday next week from one of the other dealers in the shop for £10, so was pleased about that - his present last year cost loads , so a £10, unique item will do for this time :T
Any surveys that are available (already done a really boring one from YouGov)
FPL
Hoover upstairs if I get a minute
There is bound to be more - I will update when I think of it!
Right, better get on. Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Morning Bob and Dawn, and hello to everyone else.
I'm having an altogether more lazy Saturday than the two of you. Work has been hectic (made worse by the news that the government are essentially halving the number of beds in the type of service I work in - NHS obviously). So I've brought some work home to do over the weekend, which at least means I'll be somewhere approaching 'admin zero' as I start the next week. And this weekend will no low or no spend.
Good things - I have a cheque to pay in for some private work. And possibly some more lined up. Nice to have the option of extra income. Also need to ask the bank where my new debit card is, as the old one expires next week. Not having an in-date debit card doesn't seem like a sensible way of saving money!
The house needs a good vacuum and mop. Happy to do that to break up the report writing I'll be doing. And hopefully I'll get the washing on the line.
Do my YNAB for next month. I plan to save £500 for the bathroom, but would love to save £700. I'll have to think on about how to do that.
Happy saving everyone!0 -

Morning everyone
Tempted to put the heating on but will try and resist. Only myself and DS2 up at the moment.
Have filled the kitchen soap dispenser with shower gel that I am still trying to use up from last Christmas! One load of washing out, another in.
My brother rang yesterday, they are visiting some friends up here in a couple of weeks and are going out for a meal. He asked if we wanted to join them. I dont see my brother very often and would love to go but its not a particularly cheap restaurant and October is already going to be a tight month. If I can get our food spend down to £250 it would be doable.
Going to potter about today I think. Some paperwork to sort and file.
Have a good Saturday everyone x0 -
