Evening Saturday Savers,
Not so much achieved today as have had 150 mile round trip to visit my parents to see how Dad is doing & to help with a few jobs. Thought I'd still post to show I've more or less kept the faith:
*Filled a carrier bag with pears from our tree (gifted to parents - much appreciated - cost us now't)
*Picked up Mum's shopping in Waitrose, which meant I qualified for a free 'Guardian'.
*Did not get tempted in the shops while pottering around the town where I grew up. Did treat ourselves to coffee & scones when we arrived but everyone's allowed a treatypoo now & again, & we used our Personal Spends, so no adverse impact on the budget. That's the great thing about budgeting which I wish I'd understood decades ago. Budgeting HELPS you have things, it's a facilitator rather than the horrid big meanie that for years, I thought it would be.
*Acquired 2 gardening mags from Mum & a jar of honey from Dad.
*Sorted out a couple of family Christmas plans (hopefully). Not in any great detail, far too early for that, but stuff that will allow me to plan & budget in good time.
*PAD'd leftover £4 from September's grocery budget into Car Fund.
*Checked for surveys. Very few points on offer, so few that I actually bored myself looking so decided to use my time more productively.
*Aim to finish the hat I'm knitting for a friend's present. First (Bah!!) I've got to frog the 6 rows of complete crapola I knitted this afternoon while talking to my Dad about bowels. It's not remotely a tricky pattern, but there's clearly a limit to how much yakking I can do about bodily elimination channels while simultaneously counting intervals between black slip stitches. My friend is colour-blind & I don't think he'd notice the error, but I know it is there & know it would annoy me every time I picked up the hat to finish, so those bad rows gotta go!
*Have put M&S and Sainsbury's vouchers & Clothes Pig Money ready for city centre trip tomorrow. mr f says he'll make breakfast tomorrow before we go & will do a couple of filled cobs & crisps to take with us. I don't mind a coffee out, but I'm not squandering my October 'Spends' on lunch as well.
*Check weather forecast. Gorgeous today. If looks like a good dry, will set washer for a cheapo overnight wash & peg outside.
OK, must sort out that naughty knitting now. Sorry to hear so many folk have got colds. Treat yourselves kindly. Lots of fluids.I find hot lemon & honey with a bit of grated root ginger & a pinch of cinnamon works wonders for throats & decongestion and unbranded paracetamol help see off the associated aches & pains. No need to pay out for expensive branded 'remedies'. Not much can stop a cold.

I am discovering that having a dog stretched out on your legs is a great alternative to central heating, even if I am starting to go slightly numb.
Had a nice, non-spending day. DH and DS watching Rugby so I might download something from IPlayer or read my library book.
Oooh and my lovely Mum bought me a bottle of gin the other day so I am indulging in a nice G&T. Need to make it last though!0 -
Bob thank you for starting the thread today.
We are going away for a few days tomorrow so today has been sorting out the house and packing. We have planned all meals and are taking the majority of the food with us including HM rolls, cake and sausage rolls to keep the costs down. Additionally we have looked at where we are going to refuel the car. On our way home we are going to be staying with my parents for a few days which I'm looking forward to. I have planned low cost/free things for us to do, as well as the children's lessons and the children will just want to be playing games with their grandparents. I am likely to come home having eaten loads partly as my mum always makes or buys us all lots of treats and partly because they often have in addition B/L/D, morning coffee, afternoon tea and supper none of which we would usually eat. Surprisingly my mum is slim and very fit and healthy.
I'm not sure if I will be able to get on whilst away nor if I'll have much to say, but I'll try and read when ever I can.
We will be back home very late Thursday and out all Friday, hopefully I will be able to get on during the week, if not I wish you all a good one and that everyone who is poorly has a speedy recovery.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Phew loads to do! Have a great weekend x
Ok still plugging away at my weekend list. Had a lovely day yesterday with oh & dgd and was glad (financially) that we could take away the pizza's rather than eat in as drinks and extras could have been really expensive. The pizzas were lovely but would have cost £25 if we didn't have the vouchers! It's weird isn't it that once you become frugal/thrifty/MSE the price of some things just make you ?
Looking forward to catching up with my friend this morning and having coffee with her. I love her to pieces we worked together a few years ago but we live about 35 miles away so don't see each other very often
Anyway going to finish my coffee and then get ready to go to the bootfair  have 1 ms assignment to do today then I am officially on "holiday" from any money making efforts for a week :j
* needc to hang out washing & put another load on this morning
Have a lovely Sunday everyone xDF as at 30/12/16

Not this time, no
But it is the nearest SM to me to walk to, so I do venture in there sometimes
That's probably why. I never shop there. So they've probably identified me as someone who may spend £15 but only if tempted.:D" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
