Its getting to the best part of the month, when a new YNAB month is so close, but not yet here. Its time to tidy up the budget, roll the base budget over to October then work on reallocating some of the surpluses and overspends (Rule 3- rolling with the punches) so that we have a nice complete September budget.
We will be shopping today for the whole week which will hopefully see us come in at £10 under the September Groceries Challenge which is excellent as we had set our challenge at £75 below Augusts spend - so £85 less overall or practically a weeks shopping saved!
Kids are off school on Monday and their gran has given them £10 each for a day out so we will take them out on that.
We have all but used up our freezer & cupboard stock which has helped us with the September GC so am a little nervous about that, but this is forcing us to plan the meals weekly now.
Now that we are DF I am about to transfer £1800 into savings which a year ago would have been totally unthinkable! Thanks YNAB!!!!!!Total Credit Used...=........£9,000 / £52,700
Mortgage..............=........£138,000 , 20 Years left.
:starmod:CC cashback for this year..=........£112.88 £205.81 banked in 2015

Good morning everyone, and thanks for the start Bob.
I hit the ground running this morning - was up until well after 1am. Cold has hit my chest so I'm rattling and wheezing with every breath. Ally - hope you're feeling better soon. I came downstairs to lie on the sofa and then fell asleep, until quarter to eight. DS is meant to be at football for half past! So it's all been a bit manic.
List for today:check banking
do some surveys
1 hour of schoolwork (the price of an early finish yesterday)
15 mins housework and declutter
cheap weekly shop at Aldee tonight
been to my appointment in Sunderland
picked up DS repaired winter coat (£6 repair vs £32 new coat)
DS to football
Both kids to gymnastics
Write a complaint letter to Natwest - again
Keep the heating off if at all possible
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Hey All
Quick update. Made it to Mr W. Shopped with a list. Mainly cupboard staples. Because I am at the supermarket every day I know how much things cost to the penny so was able to pick and choose what was good in Mr W compared to Mr T or S and select bargains.
We had to hit £15 to get the £3 off coupon and in the end OH had to race back and grab something to make us up to the spend level. I bought everything I wanted except washing powder as Mr S small pack that is supposed to do 10 washes but I stretch it way beyond that is only 95p and Mr W cheapest was around £1.95.
We also treated ourselves to a pot of manchego stuffed olives, a posh bar of chocolate and some pate for OH within that budget. A pretty good use of £12.64
Plus free coffee. I can see me definately going back with the 2 other vouchers.

Afternoon all
I'm feeling rough again today, cold/cough combo onto the 3rd day! Not good with asthma and I'm freezing cold! Trying not to put the heating on, it feels like a sin! Anyways today:
- Check online banking
- Do My Survey - Done (10pts off another £3 withdrawal and no surveys left! Typical! Haha)
- Lazy day - OH is at work tonight
- Meal from stores
- Wash OH's football clothes
Not much else, I don't think! Have a good weekend all xDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250 -
Not very DFW but just got my lunch at work and so proud of myself as I got a salad and some fruit instead of my normal sandwich and chocolate!!
Me and hubby are trying for a baby when I have implant out (Oct 8th) so want to eat a bit healthier.
It cost the same as my usual lunch too so didn't go over board and was rather yummy!!
Now to resist chocolate for the rest of day....Read my diaryHere0 -
Hi all.
Just a quick post from me as we have decided to get ready & take the caravan away for a last holiday before it gets too late.
We leave all technology behind - no TV or PC allowed.I've just realised that I'll miss 'Bake Off', so I may be found peering in through another caravan window!
There are lots of beans & tomatoes still in the garden, so I have been picking, cooking, freezing like crazy. Also gave some to lovely neighbour who keeps an eye on the plants while we're away.
I found a recipe in a magazine for elderberry, pear & ginger cake. I'd found some windfall pears so thought I'd try out the recipe. I told someone that I was on my way to get elderberries - they asked me where I bought them from, as they'd never seen any!!
I hope everyone who feels poorly gets well soon.
Bob - you must be getting close to your due date?
Enjoy the rest of the weekend - I look forward to catching up in a week or so.

I love W*itrose too Bob. As you say, you have to pick and choose what compares favourably pricewise with the other SMs, but their own basic brand is fab, often the same price as anywhere else and much better quality.0
