Good evening..

Mine for the last few days are:

1. Homemade chicken and mushroom pie made from yesterday's leftover chicken for dinner tonight

2. Veg chilli in pan ready for dinner tomorrow

3. Made a roasted squash, red onion and chickpea dish to take into work for a shared lunch tomorrow. Looks very colourful and smells delicious.

4. Delicious white chocolate and cranberry cookie at work and tonight, made by DH

5. DS staying up late reading in bed to finish his book (it's the first time he's ever done this and it's so nice he's loving books)

Bella - your post about the daffodils has made me think that I will go and liberate a couple from our back garden which are struggling to come up through the newly laid lawn. I'd love to have them potted up on my kitchen windowsill. Thanks for that.

My five pleasures for today are:

1. A very tasty stir-fry for supper. I remembered that we had some fresh ginger left in the fridge after my DS's failed attempt at ginger beer making. Fresh ginger is lovely in stirfry.

2. Having some lovely conversations with other home-ed parents at a get-together over lunch.

3. Getting an offer of a bit more work - hooray!

4. Spending some time reading through various other threads on the forum and seeing what incredible support and kindness people are giving to others in dire straits or the midst of tragic circumstances.

5. Mug of hot chocolate and a hottie right now!

Night all x

Monday blessings...

There is only one today, not OS I'm afraid but nonetheless priceless. To try to cut a long story short several years ago my oldest daughter decided to go her own way. She has 2 children, a girl of 19 and a boy, 17 who of course I haven't seen all these years.

This afternoon I answered the phone to hear a rather tentative 'Hello, it's C*****'. It was my granddaughter, who has kept in touch with another member of the family since she was a child, and who got my number from them. When I managed to regain my composure - after    :j etc - we had a lovely chat, one of the highlights of which was learning that I'm now a great-grandma! :T (we're both far too young of course but I can forgive her that :rotfl: )

She lives not far from where I'm taking DM for a holiday in June, and it's her little son's birthday during that week, so one step at a time I hope we can build a relationship firm enough to at least be able to visit her then.

May you all be as blessed as I was today...

My 5 pleasures (over 2 days.)
1. Enjoying my sons 6th Birthday Party and chatting to the mums as for once I had everything really well organised.

2. Feeling less tired and lethargic as I have stopped eating all the Christmas chocolate, bread etc and returned to my low carbohydrate way of eating. Plus forced myself to go to the Gym which although I can’t say I love going always makes me feel better and helps me sleep.

3. Preparing a spicy lamb casserole the day before so it is ready for when we get home from work.

4. Knitting for the first time in over 15 years watching TV with my lovely Dunhelm Mill warm blanket over me. (don’t think my husband was impressed. Think he would prefer it if I was in a negligee, giving him come hither looks. Not that I even have a negligee.)

5. Going early to bed for a read with my hottie. My feet are always cold in bed and this makes a real difference.

It has upset me to read about those of you who have lost contact with your children / grandchildren. It must feel dreadful to miss out on them growing up. I wish you all the best of luck in having a reconciliation with them.

• having 10 pigeons grazing the nuts we put down in our garden – on Sunday we had a green woodpecker on the lawn and he stayed for about 20 mins – took loads of photo and video of him – was a real privilege hope to see him back soon
• my subscription to Now comes today – love my weekly trash mag!
• OH cooking me baked potatoes with leftover tuna and sweetcorn
• fingers crossed we get a home for my dear old dads cats today – he passed away last year and his 2 cats need a more stable home – the lady sounded lovely last night so fingers crossed!
• not today but fed the swans on Sunday – the lake was frozen over except for a channel by the bank so they could only go backwards and forwards! Fed them some bread and some kind soul had left some seed near them so they had plenty of food making a warm fire in their belly!
• dropped off an old duvet and old unsave-able blankets (plus some doggie food) to the dogs trust, its such a lovely set up there, all the dogs have their own armchair to flop on and the car park was full up – hopefully people were collecting dogs not dropping them off! Bless their waggy hearts!!

:hello: Hello Everybody,

My Five OS Pleasures for the last couple of days are:-

1) The smell of HM bread, again.

2) Having a good nights sleep now that the 'noisy weekenders' have gone, although I'm sure some more will be back on friday.

3) Watching 10 robins in the mountain ash tree gorging themselves silly, they'll regret that later when they can't fly straight :rotfl: :rotfl:

4) Having a couple of NSD and using up stuff in the house - it warms my heart that I'm beating the system.

5) Watching my daughter develop into a beautiful independant young women who has the confidence to go out and do things on her own.:D

It's sad to hear that some of us don't have contact with their children and grandchildren, my heart goes out to you and I hope you will be reconciled soon.

Best wishes to all.

hello, this is the first time I have posted on this thread but love reading it as it really cheers me up. I think with the help of the os board and reading alot of the inspirational posts on it I have really managed to make a change to my outlook for the better!

I try hard to find happiness and fulfilment in the little things in life, and even tho this can be hard at times, especially as we seem to live in a society that placed no value on things like this and values money and possessions above all else, but i'm getting better at it all the time. I often find myself at work trying to explain something to a colleuge or pointing out the beautiful snset out of the window only to be met by blank looks and find myself thinking 'the os'ers would understand!'

Anyhoo...my os pleasures today are

1. a warm cuddle in bed with my little girl

2. getting up to my oh having made me a cup of tea and doing my ironing

3. taking my girl to school before work and seeing her skipping into the classroom so happily (i work f/t so this is a rare pleasure for me)

4. getting through a large pile of work in the office which makes me feel like i'm really efficient and capable! (i don't often feel like this)

5. Stunning sunset from the top of my office block

6. my little window box of primroses
• Evening everyone. Sparrer your one brought a tear to my eye- I really hope it works out for the pair of you.

Busy old day at work but my pleasures for today are-

1.Having a lovely hug with my hubby in bed this morning- a rare treat as he works shifts so we are often not in bed at the same time.

2.A delicious home cooked tea of veggie toad in the hole and roasted woopsied new potatoes with veggies.

3.Pottering around at home all afternoon with nothing pressing to do.

4.The promise of a steaming hot bath, lots of bubbles and a good book.

5.Having my iPod on super-loud in the car on my way home and sining along loudly to some absolute classics. Not sure how OS that is but it's certainly a simple pleasure.
