    1. Bought 2 lots of bargain veggies in ASDA yesterday (Root Veg packs for £1.00 instead of £1.37!), all the parsnips have been turned into a wonderful pan of spicy parsnip soup which we had for lunch - absolutely delicious recipe (many thanks to Gordon Ramsey). Remaining soup went into a margarine tub and has been frozen for another day (waste not - want not). Some of the carrots and swede have been used for today's evening meal which is nearly ready now. Remainder have been prepped and frozen and added to Christmas stash!

    2. I 've had a lazy afternoon - needed after babysitting dgd (aged 13mths) yesterday AND taking her grocery shopping in ASDA in the afternoon.

    3. Finished small arran jacket and bobble hat for dgs (aged 3mths) - all neatly sewn up and looks fabulous.

    4. Started hooded arran jacket for dgd (13mths) in a beautiful dark pink colour.

    5. Tonight's evening meal is a bargain jobbie - whoopsied stuffed pork joint, SmartPrice pots, whoopsied broccoli florets (steamed in microwave), and my bargain carrots&swede from yesterday - plus I'll make my own gravy from scratch using up the veg water and juices from the roasting pan :D.

    1. Finding that the curtain rail for the curtain that hangs over my stairwell is *great* for drying washing on

    2. Meat and potato pie for dinner (made by my Mum :D) and roast parsnips

    3. Managing to take apart my kitchen sink waste (had come detached fom the pipe) and figuring out which bit was broken. Now just to fix it...

    4. Stewing some apples that were turning, destined for a spiced apple cake

    5. Cleaning my ceramic cooker top with stardrops, vinegar and bicarb (lots of) and it *gleaming*
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment

I adore this thread. Thought I should mention that. Total inspiration. So, many thanks to all the OS posters who have motivated me.

    My OS Pleasures...

    1. Made stock from the chicken bones from yesterday's roast.

    2. Made Leek and Potato Soup (4 servings) and French Onion Soup (4 servings) with the HM stock.

    3. Baked a loaf (Okay, I cheated and used the bread machine)

    4. Cut the laundry powder with soda crystals to make it s-t-r-e-t-c-h.

    5. Used a portion of the left over chicken with some unused leeks to create a creamy leek and chicken pasta (with peas!).

    Once again, thank you all.

    Kind regards.

  • and here's mine..

    1. Watching Mamma Mia on dvd from the library (£2 for the week) with the kids and dh this afternoon. Cosy on the sofa with blankets.

    2. Making pastry for a quiche tomorrow, and freezing an extra quiche case, and 3 more portions of pastry.

    3. Cooked down ruby chard stalks (made the leaves into a curry with potatoes on Friday), with red onion, to fill the quiche. They had sat on the side for 2 days whilst I decided whether to compost them or not.

    4. Put scraps out for the birds.

    5. Checked the greenhouse after 2 nights hard frost and found that my pots of salad are still thriving. The polythene and polystyrene insulation seems to be working.

    Hi all

    here are mine:

    1 - A lovely sunny day!

2 - A very interesting and useful meeting with one of the volunteers of my organisation re. ways to fundraise at grassroots.

3 - We had a very nice sandwich lunch at John Lewis, I paid because I get paid for my time and she doesn't.

4 - Got the free Lonely Planet playing cards at Borders (somewhere in the freebies thread there is a link), good for a small Xmas present!

5 - Found a fab pair of Nike Dunk Low trainers, size 9, reduced from £59.99 to £20, last pair, in Office. Perfect for DS, got them and he LOVES them! Shoe problem sorted for him for next 6 months at least now!

    Good night

  • 1. Oh, that wonderful sunshine, it raised the temperature in my front room to 25deg as I ironed (no heating on).

    2. Towels hung outside for three hours, didn't dry much but smelt divine and they'll probably dry much quicker inside for having a blow.

    3. Lovely slice of homemade bread for my lunch today.

    4. The hm yogurt with hm lemon curd that I had for afters wasn't bad either.

    5. New microwave from tonight because my old one died at the weekend. I know a microwave is not OS but the fact that it saves on power is. Also having enough money put by to buy it was such a pleasure.

    Bella.

    Hi all

Here are my five for today:

1 - Another lovely sunshiny day, up early in the morning to go to the Portsmouth outlet shop with DH

2 - A whole day with DH, no work, no housework, no kids, no cats, just me and him, what a wonderful treat!

3 - The most gorgeous breakfast at Cafe Rouge in Portsmouth, almost entirely paid for with the vouchers (£15) I got back from my Cafe Rouge voucher complaint - yes we ate LOADS! It was brunch really and we did not need any lunch!

4 - Got 99% of my Christmas presents shopping done and at real bargain prices!

5 - Tonight, extra treat, no cooking - DH and I are invited to dinner at a friend's.

Don't you love life? It is wonderful! I feel so blessed!

    Goodnight all
