Thank you Rainy Wednesday, love the smell of olbas, even if at the mo I'm so bugged ub I can't smell a thing!

Thank you Ollie, you reminded me that I do have a couple of dvd's put by for a time such as this, spent a very idle morning watching them. You are so right, morning television is drivel. Even doing the ironing is more stimulating

    1. Enjoying some dvd's I'd put away for a rainy day, and watching Shirley Valentine yet again. She comes out yearly, I almost know it word for word...sad huh? The expression on her face when she says 'Where did that orchestra come from?' always cracks me up :D

    2. A beautifully warm, sunny day, even with a cold I didn't need the heating on

3.. Doing some laundry and getting it dry on the line

    4. Getting 3 phone calls from friends who missed me at last night's fellowship meeting, nice to be thought of

    5. Making a big bottom of fridge pan of bol after finding a jar of L Grossmans sauce in the under bed drawer. Microwaved some pasta twists so I now have enough meals for the next few days unless I get bored with it. But bored wth bol? That will never happen!

Night night n God bless all

Morning everybody  - not sure what weather today is going to bring. So far it's quiet (so at least there's no wind/rain at the moment) and I'm getting used to seeing pinpricks of light in the direction of the high-rise flats when I go to fill the kettle.

RainyWednesday - Good Luck with your planned career change :j - it's years since I did l last did it myself and now it's way too late to do it again ;).
Kittikins - I've got a couple of Banana and Walnut Loaves in the freezer - good one for freezing PLUS it will come in handy as we get closer to Christmas - rich fruit cake going in next.
newlywed - fingers crossed with FD - that extra £30 a month would make a great difference for your payment schedule. Hope all is a little calmer with OH - ((((hugs)))).
Nomoneymummy - still wondering myself what their uses could possibly be :rotfl: - we don't even need them for 'breeding purposes' these days - and batteries are cheap enough :o (ooops did I really put that last comment?). You reminded me of when my DS2 played an Easter Bunny and came on in a string of EB's all holding hands - BUT he was the last one and had a 'free hand' - and YES the finger was up the nose. I was cringeing and thinking 'If he puts THAT in his mouth, I'll be having words......!'
Louba - hope your fancy 'work do' went OK - and :rotfl: at your leopard print shoes - no point in me even dreaming along those lines - bet my big toe wouldn't go inside them. My DS2 bought a pair for his g/f last Christmas and hid them in my spare room until Christmas Eve - she arrived Christmas Day glowing with pride in them while I pretended to be completely surprised ;).
helyg - best of luck with your knitting
Reverbe - love the sound of that Peter Kay book - bought his last one as a Christmas pressie for DD's OH a couple of years ago (before they split up) - he left it behind when he moved out, so I re-acquired it :j.
esmf73 - well done on raising all that money for SSAFA - they do great work - have come across them for a number of my tenants when they've needed extra support. Your DS sounds a 'little love' - make sure it's something that 'Santa' really loves won't you ;). And you can't possibly tell us all 'half a tale' - how did dinner with your OH go? And what was 'the talk' all about? If I'm being nosey, just tell me to shut up :silenced: and mind my own business :naughty:.
RachelW - definitely time for the winter duvet now - did mine a couple of nights ago - but still have the option of attaching the two together, but that doesn't happen until the end of December (or whenever the weather gets really bad!).
sparrer - I thought you were supposed to be poorly-sick, woman - get back on that sofa immediately (beggar the washing!) - there's dvd's to be watched ;). Suggestion with the olbas oil - have you tried sprinkling a couple of drops on the palm of one hand, then rubbing the two palms together really hard (really generating some heat) - then cup your hands tightly around the end of your nose and inhale really deeply. I find that helps to penetrate right through the 'bugged up dose' - quite 'mind-blowing' in fact.
bunnytoo - welcome to MSE and to this thread . By the sound of your post, it looks like you're really getting into the swing of MSE/OS. My OH always buys the expensive toothpaste (and he's quite wasteful with it) - I always pinch his last bits and get loads out that he doesn't notice. When I've finished HIS, I then carry on with my own Asda Essentials one (39p for a big tube).

    Mine for yesterday were:

    1. Good day in work, though I had another incident of having to chase local kids away from one of our blocks of flats - wish I could get their names - also wish I could run quicker!

    2. Getting a good response to my posters for a trip to Bury Market - looks like we'll have a full coach for this one .

    3. Phone call from DD - ds2 (age8) has had his brace, with an artificial front tooth, fitted. Apparently he was VERY brave when they had to do an anaesthetic to remove the tooth - it was stuck to the next tooth. The other one will be removed some time in the future as that one is also completely dead now. Can't wait to see him with a full smile again .
nanasmrgoofy.jpg just wondering now how long the brace/artificial tooth will last !

    4. Pork and Apple burgers on bagels for tea last night - very delicious.

    5. Going to go freezer diving in a few minutes to sort out something for tonight's evening meal. I know there's some HM soup in there for lunch (possibly Oxtail and Veg )AND I've got some crusty bread to go with it!

That's me about done for this morning - will pop back in again later, if I get chance - got some more 'note posting' to do around the letterboxes today. (((((HUGS))))) for all who need them - speak again later love Ollie xxxx

    2 - and a cup of tea!
3 - work do was in the city's art gallery, it was a beautiful setting if a bit odd being there after hours!
4 - planning to put the winter duvet on tonight to beat the cold - still haven't put the heating on tho!
5 - Looking forward to a quiet weekend

    Happy friday

Interesting reading through everybodys' posts and realising what a large part wholesome home-made food plays in our feeling of well-being.

    1. Watching last night's programme "A boy called Alex" - a young musician who is struggling with Cystic Fibrosis and admiring his courage in following his vision despite his disabilities.
    2. Looking out of the windows and admiring our nicely tidied garden, all ready for winter.
    3. Our amusement at the huge beetroot I dug up last week-end - it's the size of a small pumpkin! It seems to have featured in some way in our meals every day since then and is beginning to be the subject of same black humour as the Christmas turkey which is still lingering on New Year's Day! (And we still have a whole row of these creatures to dig up and eat:rotfl:
    4. Local community social event and catching up with some familiar faces.
  • Ohhh its cold here today! Hi to all hope your all doing well or better today x((Hugs to all))

Well heres my 5 so far today

    1. OH phoned to apologise for grumpy argument this morning when I returned from the school run, lack of sleep due to sick DD2, still not100% impressed with him but calming down a bit x

    2. Its cold enough for my funky winter clothes to reappear, yipeee:j to knee length stripy toe socks with glow in the dark toenail thingys and big fluffy winter boots ... Soon be time for the silly hat with attached scarf! Sure the DD's will be ashamed of me when they get a bit older!!

    3. Mums doing a kitchen cupboard clear out so will be pinching old loaf tins and other bits for my very bare cupboards, will be up to pinch inbetween school pick ups, may find old cookie cutters for xmas biccy making x :T

    4. My delivery of Lancashire Tea came!!! Small local tea firm near here delivered 14 boxes of tea each with 80 bags in for just over £17... soooo much money will be saved on tea! (easy get through 10 cups a day!) Have previously £4 a week:eek: on tea and hoping this should last 6 months or so!!!

    5. Am drinking my yummy Lancashire Tea and tastes even better than normal after I spent last night descaling the kettle...:A

Well of to do some jobs before little DD pick up x

Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone ;)

Hope it is okay for me to join in. I'm having a pretty stressful time at work at the minute so thought this might help me remember the good bits!

    Yesterday

1 - First day of a 4 day break. Stayed in bed until 10.30 and stayed in my PJs utnil 12!!!!!

2 - A phone call from my sister to say how much she loved the birthday pressies I got her and how it was too much (good ole MSE helped me spoil her!)

3 - DH coming home to have lunch with me.

4 - Sending a wee gift to a forum friend (craft website) just because I can.

5 - Brunch for dinner. Yummy haggis, scrambled eggs, black pudding, beans and sausage. Plus only used half of most things so the rest is in the freezer for a repeat dinner sometime.

    Love reading everyones five!

    Hi all,

    1. OH making me a cuppa yesterday - a good sign as he rarely does it, but that's the only sign  Asked for a hug this morning and got snapped at instead :o

    2. Getting a large bag of slightly sad YS parsnips and roasting them off with onion, garlic, cumin seeds and mustard seeds ready to make into spicy parsnip soup next week (just need to whizz them and add stock). Smells lovely.

    3. Baking some potatoes at the same time so Saturday lunch should be a few minutes microwave zap. ;)

    4. YS pain au chocolate - what diet :p Well it's the only blip I've had this week so not too bad considering :o

    5. Doing all my shopping yesterday so no need for shops until a milk top up is needed (seem to be a bit more organised with shopping this month - sometimes I feel like I shop every lunch hour)

    6. A lovely cold bright day - for however long it lasts - I like the cold mornings.

    7. My campanula still flowering and seems to have suddenly grown some much larger leaves. Hoping all the plants survive the winter as they're the first I've planted.

    8. Planning a lunch time walk (hopefully it will stay dry till then) as no shopping to do.

    9. A reserved book to pick up from the library on bread making - must plan my lunch walk to go via there :D

    10. Planning a freezer shuffle this evening (as didn't get round to it) to make sure there's a bit more gap :o

    11. Now I've got a jigsaw roll mat thingy I can plan to do some of my 50p charity shop jigsaw (OH moans the table is needed and doesn't want it on the coffee table or floor either - this way I get to do jigsaws without the moans :p)

    12. It's friday!!!!

    Wow - I did better than I thought I would - 12 ;)
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Hiya alllllll :)

    1) I am making cornish pasties from left over stew - ideal for D/P packed lunch box.
    2) I am cleaning all my doors today with diluted stardrops, when I have finished with the bowl of solution I shall mop the floor with it.
    3) Listing on Ebay
    4) Giving stuff away on Freecycle
    5) Walking the dogs for an hour this afternoon, great free exercise.

    Have a great day folks. x x
    Whistle while you work...

    Mine for today
    1. A run and good natter with a friend.
    2. Putting some items on ebay that have been sat in the corner of my bedroom for ages. I think I'll get through them at approximately five items per week and hopefully make some money.
    3. All ironing done while watching Jeremy Kyle (guilty pleasure).
    4. Another lovely Autumn day.
    5. Being able to post this (hopefully) without my computer playing up and logging me out.
    Love to all X
