    Good evening everybody

Just a quick catch up from me this evening - I'm full of the 'snuffles' and don't want to pass anything on to you all .

    1. Managed to keep my head down in work today and kept away from face-to-face contact with my tenants - don't need to spreading my bugs around. Amazing how much I can sort out over the phone when I have to.

    2. Lovely porridge with golden syrup for breakfast this morning - proper comfort food when you're not feeling brilliant.

    3. Oxtail done in the slow cooker for evening meal and it was delicious - such a lovely rich gravy from it. This will become a 'winter favourite' in future - will need to try to remember to do some dumplings next time.

    4. Got a hot toddy lined up for myself in a couple of minutes. I'll take it to bed with 2 paracetamol and a book to read.

    5. My new shoes and boots arrived from the shoe catalogue - both fit like an absolute dream with lovely comfy linings. Bring on the winter - at least my feet will be ready for it!

Gonna get off now before the sneezing starts all over again. Nitey nite all - take care - love from Ollie xxx

Happy Birthday Reverbe, :bdaycake: don't know when it is exactly but hope you have/had a wonderful day!

Doesn't it make you mad  puss14, that they don't just bring down the price of utilities instead of holding out the carrot of a 'discount' if we pay on time?

    Latest blessings...

    1. Damaged new freezer replaced today with a perfect new freezer :D

    2. Put my lawn mower on freecycle and got lots of requests. I do like it when that happens, trouble is I always find it so difficult to choose who to give things to

    3. Learning that although the pulmonary rehab course ends next Friday (can't believe the 7 weeks have gone already) there's going to be an exercise class every Monday for the followiing 20 weeks. Can't fault the NHS ;)

    4. Two samples of baby lotion to trial, both smell lovely

    5. Going through a pile of papers and finding £8 worth of Tesco vouchers, means I have £32 to spend on treats on our holiday in Blackpool at half term :T

Night night all, God bless and sweet dreams

Good morning all :hello: - still a bit snuffly, but I promise to keep my mouth/nose covered as I type smiley-sick010.gif. May just need another couple of hot toddies today - purely for medicinal purposes, of course . Truth to tell, I prefer the 'lemon' bit of the toddy to the whisky bit :rotfl:.

Thanks for the good wishes, sparrer :).

    1. Forgot to add yesterday that I've got rid of a Footspa and a 2-man tent on Freegle in the last couple of days. Part of my 'shed clearout' from last weekend. Lovely young man walked over from the next housing estate for the tent and was delighted that EVERYTHING was included with it - groundsheet, flysheet, pegs, tentpoles, carrying bag - his mates are going camping this weekend and said he could go IF he could get a tent. Footspa went to an equally nice guy who was also delighted to get it - said he didn't expect it to be in such lovely clean condition.

    2. Just going to put some porridge in the microwave and use up another spoonful of my very crystallised golden syrup. New jar sitting there but it ain't getting opened until I've used the last of the older stuff - waste not, want not :rotfl:!

    3. Got my mobile hairdresser coming today to give me a trim - hate it when my hair gets some length and I start scratching my scalp.

    4. Thanks to another thread, I'm also planning to have a freezer sort-out today and attempt to list the contents. Unfortunatley, my printer hasn't got any ink in it. BUT  - I'm going to do an 'Excel Document' on this comp, send it as an email attachment to my 'work computer' (in my office upstairs) and then print it off from there :j. Where there's a will, there's a way ;). Could just do it on the work comp, but don't fancy sitting in the office for an hour - too much 'like work' up there.

    5. Have some left-over gravy and veggies from yesterday's Oxtail Casserole. Going to warm it up and 'whizzie' for soup for lunch today. Should have done it immediately after evening meal last night and it could have been frozen there and then, but forgot and allowed it to go cold. Now it's really thick and would be best to get used up today really. Besides, don't think I can get anything else in the freezers at the moment.

Hope everybody has a good weekend and gets to spend it with people of their choice ;) - take care - love Ollie xxx

Thanks Sparrer. It was Tuesday. I managed to make it quite a goodish day. Don't get any pressys or any cards so shocked to get on in the post from my mate Ted at footy.Didnt take him much effort I guess cos his OH has a huge pile of cards in the flat but nice of him to remember as I didnt mention it at all the last time I saw the gang..

I went to see Arsenic & Old Lace locally on stage and it was FAB. PLus there was some eye candy in it. I managed to track him down on Facebook and we have been swapping quite a few funny flirty messages. He seems to be engaged to a woman in Sweden tho but he seems a nice chap and has said I shoulda come to say hello after Tuesday. Am going again tonight and might get the nerve to speak if I have had a coupla drinks.. I am very outgoing but with ppl I don't know like if they are in something or if I find em nice looking I never know what to say and am worried of making a prawn of myself... lol

  • Afternoon all

My OS pleasures for today include:

    1. Taking being woken early by neighbours to my advantage and putting washing machine on i time for it to complete cycle before the end of my Economy 7 period, washing then drying on balcony in sun.

    2. Spending the afternoon wandering round the shops with my friend, and then bumping into another friend

    3. On my way home I was driving behind an old couple who were in an ancient car - it must have been at least 70 years old. It was all wooden, looked like a 'horse&cart' cart but had an engine. People kept waving and beeping at them :) It made my heart warm that this couple were bringing joy to so many people just by driving round.

    4. I've bought all the ingredients to do some baking now that my oven is fixed. I'm going to make cupcakes later on.

    5. I had an email from one of my close friends who has been living in Canada for past 4 years. She has found out that her permanent residency is almost granted :) and she can now leave the country and attend our friends wedding in February next year. She was not allowed to leave Canada and be allowed back in until this was granted (she been waiting 6mths!)

Hope you all have good day

  • Here are mine (sorry I've not had that many successes to report!)

    1. Getting all of the ironing finished.
    2. Stewing the final blackberries and apples and making more than 10 mini crumbles, with potential for more when I buy more butter for the topping!
    3. Finishing a good book.
    4. Turning a big pile of nearly had-it mushrooms into sliced sauteed mushrooms for the freezer. Instant mushies :D
    5. A renewed feeling of OS-iness; I feel as though the effort will be worth it.

    Take care, all

  • 1) Opening the last jar of 2006 blackberry jam this morning, and it was lovely
    2) Going for a long walk with DH. We took our own butties and treated ourselves to a coffee and a flapjack at the end in a delightful pub, which cost us less than our usual Saturday coffee date.
    3) Managed to see DS for a few minutes when we came back before he went out. He's on a pizza and sleepover at a friends and DD is helping move her bf into Uni so we are on our own. We thought we might pull out the sofa bed and have an evening watching telly in front of the warm glow of the fire.
    4) Home grown veggies with our tea tonight. I'm sure the allotment has shaved a couple of hundred pounds off groceries this year
  • Evening all,

Take it easy Ollie and get well soon. Have fun at the theatre Reverbe (and keep us posted ;)). Enjoy Strictly tonight Rainywednesday.
It's good to get rid of things isn't Sparrer, I gave some bits to our local rag and bone man.
Well done on using your Economy7 flutterbyuk - I haven't of late, so note to self, must do better.
Sounds like you've been busy Kitchenbunny in the kitchen and you too Patchwork. I have cake envy!

    1. Going to the local butchers. And being able to get a chicken of the size (and price) I needed.
    2. Sorting through some clutter. And getting rid of bits in the garage to the rag and bone man. Then remembered I have other bits that he could have taken. I said to him careful that mirror is heavy and he didn't flinch carrying it. Ah hope he makes a few pennies from it, at least it's gone from the garage. Have donated other bits to neighbours so as long as it's avoiding the dump that's the main thing.
    3. Flicking through books from the library I'd reserved (Sophie Dahl's one).
    4. Starting a savings pig to save for things in the house. £1.74 and counting!
    5. Taking it easy today. Avoiding shopping for the sake of it.

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
Mineallmine - Ah, a mention of the Rag and Bone man. That bought back some childhood memories. Bet he doesn't come round with a horse and cart any more though? One of my childhood tasks was always to go out with a bucket and shovel to collect his precious manure for my Dad's vegetables. The coalman came round with a horse and cart too. There was always a race to collect the droppings.
