Five OS Pleasures in your day today

A catch-up:
1. Nice e-mail from an old friend.
2. Phone chat with another elderly disabled friend who is totally housebound, lives alone and who was so pleased I had remembered her birthday. It reminded me that small actions on our part can make a big impact in the lives of others.
3. Still cropping my tomatoes which seem to be surviving minor blight attacks.
4. Have eaten totally out of storecupboard and freezer this week.
5. Another happy wedding anniversary celebrated.
6. Looking forward to local concert tonight.0 -
Reverbe, I hope you get your maggot problem sorted - sounds horrid.
My five for yesterday
1. SUNSHINE!!!
2. Spending the morning at our local county show with DD1 & 2.
3. Lots of petting of animals, freebie food and drink samples and just a great time had by all.
4. Got complimented on my dotty wellies by a nice young policeman!
5. Washing dried on the line.
Love to all.0 -
Just a quick round up for me:
1 - desk all tidied and holiday notes sent out!
2 - a nice chat with a neighbour last night, they had been kept up by the commotion the other night too.
3 - good chat with my sister, lots of gossip
4 - beautiful view of the sea this morning
5 - Holidays are here!!
Take care all

Goodness Ollie you will be busy. I'm not sure you'll have a peaceful night but I'll hope for one for you. And congratulations, Primrose, on your wedding anniversary.
1) One pot of jam and two tiny ones, in the jars I rehomed from the coffee shop. My allotment blackberries did well but they are running out now.
2) Taking the two tiny pots for the tinies next door. There was such a lot of wailing when they had to set off for school. I asked their Dad to give them to them for being brave!
3) Our next door neighbours have moved in. We've had an empty house on that side for more than a year. I took a card and shook hands and they seem lovely, but they have a three year old daughter so we may have to secure the perimeter.
4) Another lovely sunny day. All the doors and windows are open. I can hear the church clock in town chiming.
5) Being asked for a jar of chutney by DH's colleague. He wanted to pay! I've asked for jars instead. Apparently, he was eating it this afternoon. DH doesn't think much will get home.
6) Saving £40 on my roadside assistance, just for asking, and £84 in cancelling an insurance that didn't really seem to cover anything. These paperwork afternoons are so boring but I feel my time has been well rewarded. Oh, and found a dividend cheque for £11.
Hope everyone has a lovely evening. We're off to DD's bf's party. Rather poignant, as he is leaving for Uni soon, so I'm not sure if it's a pleasure0 -
Ooh, I haven't been on this thread for a bit....
Reverbe :eek::eek: at the maggots. I suppose you don't have any pals who go fishing??:D
Right, here we go:
1) Got caught up on all my "wash by hand in cold water" items that were sitting in the wash bin.
2) Mushroom risotto for tonight's dins to use up last few shrooms in the fridge.
3). IT'S FRIDAY!!!! Two days of Mr LW's company to come.:D
4) It's our 6th wedding anniversary on Sunday, and we're visiting the Anglian Wolf Society.
5) I'm due another canine house-guest for four days from next Thursday. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Lamewolf - congratulations for Sunday. Have a happy day!0

Mine for today:

2 - OH going out so having cheesecake for tea!
3 - a quiet night in with no telly on
4 - being glad it's the weekend
5 - Looking forward to football on Sunday:beer:0 -
Ooops - falling seriously behind again. I had no idea this retirement thing was going to make me so busy.
My 5 most OS pleasures for the last few days:-
1. Drying loads and loads of washing on the line.
2. Home grown salad leaves just about keeping us in a daily salad at the moment, need to sow more.
3. 1 brussel sprout plant (given by a friend) just starting to show some sprouts.
4. Making yummy chocolate brownies with Mr. S value chocolate.
5. Pilchard pie for tea, the base already made and frozen and the mashed potato was frozen also, so very little preparation, very welcome after my baking session.

Hello all  - another chilly, foggy morning - but the promise of a lovely day ahead. Yesterday turned out to be beautiful after the foggy start too
.
Primrose - Congratulations on your wedding anniversary - and hope you enjoyed your concert.
billy858 - your county show sounded great - I love things where you get to see/touch animals (as long as they are the hairy/furry/feathered type of animals that is - not the slippy/scaley ones).
Louba - Safe journey and have a wonderful holiday - beggar the moneysaving for a short while.
Patchwork - What a profitable afternoon on your paperwork :T - better in your pocket than theirs :j.
Lamewolf - Wow - great way to spend your anniversary weekend - I googled AFS and it looks a fabulous place. We've been to this place a couple of times to see the wolves - http://www.highlandwildlifepark.org/wolves.htm but you don't get THAT close to them.
RainyWednesday - Hope your team do well on Sunday (as long as they're not playing Liverpool, that is).
Bella - Hope your sprouts do well.
1. DD and dgk's didn't stay too long yesterday as they had an appointment at the Education Office over dgs1 going to a new school. He's going to find it very strange this year - first time his big sister hasn't been around for him, it's a new school and he'll also have a new one-to-one teacher.
2. Chilli made with Pork Mince and served with Pasta for evening meal last night. Had forgotten to soak some mixed beans to go in it, so drained a tin of baked beans and added them for the final five minutes to just heat through. Used up the last couple of wraps as well - sort of like burritos.
3. Leftover chilli allowed to go cold and into container for serving with jackets during the week.
4. Some left over pasta as well - mixed it with some mayo, grated cheese and chopped chives to go with salad later today.
5. DS2 arrived with dgs 2&3 around 8.00pm - survived till 9.00 and then put dgs3 to bed. He's been grizzly on/off most of the night, but responds to being told to shhhh and 'go-back-a-bo-bos'. Now bright and bouncy with a travel-cot full of toys and a bottle of milk.
Oh well back into the fray and time to get him dressed now. dgs2 and OH are both up as well!
speak again later - have a good day everybody - love Ollie xxx.0 -
RainyWednesday - Hope your team do well on Sunday (as long as they're not playing Liverpool, that is
