Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Hey all
My 5 OS pleasures for yesterday/today are:
1. Going out with work colleagues last night for a leaving do. I budgeted £50 for the evening (which I knew included £10 train ticket, food, drinks and short taxi ride), but I only spent £35
2. One load of washing done and currently drying on my airer on my balcony, 2nd load ready to go on for tonight (economy 7) for drying tomorrow
3. My oven is finally fixed- been in my flat one month with no oven - so now I have to decide what yummy food to cook in it!
4. I'm currently sitting on my balcony in the sunshine, watching people canoe in the dock outside my buiilding and the sea glittering to the side of me.
5. I'll be collecting my Dad's old bike, which he had repaired for me, from my parents house later so I can start riding to work and going off to explore the area by my new home.
Have a fab day all

Hi all and a Happy Saturday everyone.
Good for you Primrose a little thing like picking up the phone makes a huge difference to some people's lives..txt and email may have their place but it's too easy to forget not everyone has them.
I do agree Bella, how do people fit in the time to go to work?!
Hope it's good news for Fulham Reverbe, and my team, Spurs.
Lots of very strange blessings today mostly including food...yummy!
Ha ha Ollie re spilling food, I tend to wear a tucked in napkin these days. Must be an age thing - with me, not you
My geriatric f/f turned itself off yesterday (again) so I defrosted it and gave it a good talking-to which iusually puts it to rights. Turned it on overnight but this morning I woke to a stinky f/f and soaked floor. Not nice! So,....
1. This morning I had Cumberland sausage, bacon, black pudding and an egg from friends hen for breakfast
2. Searched on line for a f/f, found one via the Nectar site so I got a good discount (compared to some of the high st electrical chains), free delivery within 5 days, and nectar points. I really didn't need this right now with the car service, MoT and trip to Blackpool next month so every penny/point gained is a bonus. Thinking positive (or trying to) they'll go towards my Christmas shopping.
3. Lunch was trout and salad, dinner is quail  with parsnip chips, petits pois and baby broad beans. Amazing, why do I hang on to these things til there's a disaster? Cos it gives the cloud its silver lining, of course!:D
4.Not being one to waste anything, I have a pork curry, a sausage and egg curry (it's certainly different) and a chilli, all in roasting pans, in the oven right now. Portioned into ice cream tubs my DNeighbour is going to store them for me :A. Just looking in the freezer to see what I can microwave next, when the haddock is done - the furpets are going to dine well tonight too
I'm really quite enjoying concocting all the strange and wonderful things I can from a rather higgledy piggledy selection of food.
5. I was going to take the car to the car wash but that's now an expense I can't afford, so I'm just going to wash it myself and who knows, I may even burn off a calorie or two. Goodness knows I'll need to by tonight! :rotfl:
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone, take care n God bless

2. £5 cash for doing a survey in westfield
3. Sending off my ebay items finally
4. Spending time with friends
5. Finding a new favourite beauty product0 -

3. Going blackberry picking with my best friend, and coming back with lots
4. Finding another little thing I have in common with my best friend, and enjoying it.
5. The lovely sunshine.

Evening everyone
Olliebeak - Reverbe is right, I'm also a Fulham season ticket holder. They are the main reason why I have no money:rotfl:
Mine for today
1 -getting to spend a good three hours up the lottie, with my solar panel radio. I find it so theraputic up there
2 - coming home with a real haul - potatoes, courgettes, runner beans, french beans, tomatoes, beetroot, a single turnip and lots of blackberries
3 - getting two chilli plants half price in Homebase
4 - not really OS, but treating myself to the new Arctic Monkeys album and playing it full blast in the car
5 - watching Che Part One with OH with a glass of wine, while scoffing piles of homemade patatas bravas and sticky chicken wings
( and 6 - Fulham tomorrow!!! :j):beer:0 -
1) Taking a chair outside and sitting in the shade (can't do sun) just soaking up the warmth and the breeze
2) Reading my favourite magazine in a patch of sunlight on the sofa when the breeze got too much (and the squeaks from the tinies next door, have to confess!)
3) Strolling into town for my coffee date with DH
4) Chilli for tea from the curry cooker (slightly faster than the slow cooker!) from yellow stickered mince and a very experimental dessert - peaches in white wine with honey, almonds and apricots. Stone four wrinkly-looking peaches, pour in half a bottle of white wine left over from last night's party, drizzle with honey and throw in some dried apricots and slivered almonds from the store cupboard. Simmer until tender on the hob, thicken juices with cornflour and serve with greek yoghurt from a tub opened yesterday. Yum.
5) Spending the evening doing a version of Desert Island Discs - finding your five favourite songs on the internet and listening them through. Very cheap home made fun.0 -
Good morning old-stylers  - another good day for us, methinks AND I can see the Hi-rise flats this morning for a change :rotfl:.
Reverbe/RainyWednesday - Ah your team are playing Everton are they - w-e-l-l in THAT case ......'come on the Cottagers!' (for any Evertonians on the board - only joking, honest!). Had two little Evertonians - both in full kit - running around my house yesterday morning - DS2, Dylan and Billy are all, what we call around here, 'blue-noses' - still let them in house though
. How I married an Evertonian, STILL makes me wonder what I was thinking of in the first place  - No.1 son is a Liverpool fan, No.2 an Evertonian and DD became a Man U fan (but only because she fancied Ryan Giggs at the time
) - she HAS since seen the error of her ways and is now back in the fold as a Liverpool fan (this time due to Hyypia/Torres ) - can't you tell that DD thinks with her hormones :rotfl::rotfl:!
flutterby - well done you :j on holding back on the spending on a night out. Your apartment sounds lovely - we've got some like those at the old docks on the River Mersey - who would have thought 30yrs ago that those old derelict docks would become canoe/jet-ski playgrounds.
sparrer - wow - you ARE eating well this weekend(make sure you've got your bib on first) - and the furpets will love you forever once you've cooked that haddock - but I really do sympathise with you - thank heaven for good neighbours :T. Incidentally, all my spilled food lands on my (rather ample) boobs :rotfl:.
Spl00sh - great freebie there and well done on your survey :T.
Kitchenbunny - sounds like you had a great Saturday.
RainyWednesday - well done on your lottie harvest. Good luck with the chilli plants.
Patchwork - what a delicious sounding dessert - alcofrolic peaches .
Well my saturday turned into a v-e-r-y long day.
1. DS2 collected the dgk's around 12.30 - bang on time :j.
2. Had coffee and lunch sat at the comp to 'chill out' (trying to decide if I should go for a lie-down to recoup some sleep) when the front door burst open - the arrival of DS1, his g/f and her son.
3. DS1 asked could he store his camping gear in my garden shed as 'something (tent pegs) had gone missing' from where he'd had it stored before. Told him my shed was a tip and would need clearing out to be able to get anything in it - but he was prepared for that one . Gave up the fight and helped him to empty the shed, pack the gear in and replace all my own stuff. Was a real blessing really - shed now totally re-organised, stuff I may need most frequently is within reach at the front AND found a shed alarm and new lock stashed in a bag inside - don't know why they were INSIDEinstead of being used .
4. DS1 THEN decided to wash his car and shampoo the carpets from it - they came back from camping last week. They finally went home around 9.15  - so much for my lie-down.
5. Now awaiting the arrival of dgs2 (Dylan from yesterday) - OH is taking him to a car-boot sale for the morning while DS2 goes for a game of football. I'm going to see if I can tackle the garden with the strimmer while I'm on my own. If I do it roughly to thin it out and round the edges, then it shouldn't take too much effort to finish off during the week - garden waste collection is Monday next week.
6. Found a foot spa and a small 2-man tent in the shed that we'd forgotten were there. Going to list them on Freecycle in a few minutes :j.
7. Couple of nice whoopsied steak pies in the freezer - will have them for evening meal later - hopefully when all has quietened down for the day.
8. Forgot to include - Last Night of the Proms on TV last night - wonderful stuff
Hope we all have a lovely relaxing day - bye for now love Ollie xxxx0 -
Hello everyone, I'm back from the sunny Algarve, feeling tanned, relaxed, happy to be home and irritated that I seem to have a double ear infection - luckily irritating rather than downright agony!
My pleasures for a while:
1. Having a FANTASTIC holiday with DD; she enjoyed her kid's club and made loads of friends, I enjoyed having some me-time in the mornings and we had fun every afternoon/evening with our new friends.
2. Now feeling like the world is our oyster, and I won't be scared to book a trip away for us againDD was so good with the travelling, helpful, caring and most importantly, FUN to be with, I'm so blessed to have her in my life
3. Coming back and stepping on the scales this morning....oh my goodness, 2 weeks of eating/binging have taken their toll, I've put on a little over a stone!!! BUT on the other hand, it's less than I was anticipatingand as of this morning, I'm back on the LL diet-waggon with a vengeance! It's also messed up my monthly cycle so am hoping that a few pounds will be due to that rather than my chomping, lol.....
4. My finances haven't taken a beating whilst we were away as instead of using a credit card, I took a prepaid euro card that was free to set up, but works like a debit card, so any money I spent was already there. A good change!
5. Still have another week off work, so DD and I can enjoy ourselves until she starts school mid-week....gulp. Need to find the name tags for her uniform now!!0 -
Afternoon all,
1. Been for a swim, so feel virtuous.
2. Getting over feeling cold today with a fleecy dressing gown and a heat pad. I now feel very sleepy.
3. Did Chicken Chow Mein again the other night. Really nice.
4. Some decluttering in the bedroom and rationing toiletry supplies - otherwise I seem to have more stock than the local Boots.
5. Off to put some washing on and chill for the rest of the afternoon.
:ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks
