Caterina - hope your meet up goes well at the weekend. Just wish I was down in London this weekend, but never mind, maybe next time there is a meet, I will be able to make it.
ClaireBear - Hope your move goes well. It is amazing how you can want the independent lifestyle and then once you have it realise how nice it is to have family close by to pop in.
Sparrer - hope you enjoyed wearing your EE robe. It is a shame when we keep things for best and hardly ever use them. After reading Ampersand's post earlier in the week, I have worn some clothes I keep for best usually and have felt really positive all week.
BlimusOreilly - hope you are feeling more upbeat now than earlier in the week. It is always difficult dealing with anniversaries.
Bellaquidsin - wish my OH would scrape some tiddler potatoes. I just love the tiny ones but hate scraping them. OH would just get the peeler out and there would be nothing left to eat by the time he had finished with them!
Welcome to grandmasam.
Thriftyscotlass - glad to hear your DS is happy and what you have done is obviously right for you as a family. Well done, no-one knows a son/daughter like a parent and we certainly don't want them unhappy.
NoahsPennilessMummy - well done for aiming to pay off your debts and fully support your DS at home and school.
Reverbe - well done on the job. Let's hope it turns into something permanent.
Barneydee - I thought it really nice that you take the time to speak to elderly people as I feel they are probably quite often lonely and in need of a little chat. I always take time to stop and talk to people selling the Big Issue even though I don't usually buy it. I often wonder how many people they get to speak to in a week and feel it makes a difference to their day, just by me taking a few minutes out of my day to make them feel a little special and hopefully not so lonely.
Olliebeak - hope your DD gets a diagnosis soon. It must be worrying for you and her not knowing what the problem is. Enjoy your time with DGD after school today.
Mineallmine - hope your OH enjoys the Twinks and hug. My DH always says he loves to come home to the smell of good food, a hug and a smile from me so hope it works for you. It is amazing how our minds can go from a seed to an oak tree in next to no time.
Kittkikins - hope your mum is OK. Take care of yourself too.
Nitha - well done on getting your shopping for £15. Your plum puree and rice pudding have just made me decide on what to have after tea tonight. Thanks.
I seem to have missed a few days again, don't know where the time goes.
1. After taking DS & GF back to Lime Street Station on Monday, got home to a message on the answer phone from a friend who is visiting Chester over the weekend and wants to meet up.Always enjoy seeing her, although it isn't that often. Also our OH's get along well too, so hopefully will be a good weekend.
2. Picking our first courgette from the garden yesterday.
3. Picking the first peas from the garden this morning and finding that the courgettes have grown enormous overnight.
4. Talking to a colleague yesterday and having a moan about yet more rain when she said she loves living in this country as everywhere is so green and fertile. Made me rethink about my moans.
5. Finished all housework upstairs, everywhere looking clean and shiny. Just need to get downstairs looking the same.0 -
mineallmine - poor you. I'm just the same at taking a seed and growing an acorn in 2 seconds! ((((hugs)))) for you
kittikins - ((((hugs)))) to you and your mum. That's very sad news, I hope she is on the mend after her operation. Sending positive strength vibes to you all.
olliebeak and shopndrop - you are both so lovely with your personalised notes to everyone. It's such a nice thread to visit, which is probably why kittikins found herself on here without knowing why, as it feels like a safe-haven in the madness and sadness that everyday life can throw at you.
Here are my 5 for today:
1) Our super-cheap hammock stand came today - now we just need to work out how to attach the other end to the tree!
2) DS1 being sweet and wanting a lot of hugs. I always think there may be something bothering him but he says that he wants a hug 'just because'. Wonder how long that'll last as he's 11 in a few weeks.
3) DS2 making progress in his swimming lessons.
4) Making some soap and solid shampoo for gifts for a friend.
5) Picking peas and mint from the garden to use in some hm quiches.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt
August GC £0/£3000 -
Kittikins ((hugs)) for you and your family.
Ollie Enjoy your time with your DGK's - you remind me of my Mum she always loved having the children when she was more able.
Shopndrop Thank you for taking the time to remember everyone :A
General love & special thoughts to everyone else on here you are all so lovely and supportive :A :A My five for today are:
1. DS3 had his leavers assembly this afternoon and spent most of it in tears - bless him. It's the end of an era for me too as I've been going up to that school since 1996
2. Looking forward to having the children around in the holidays. Even though feeding them & refereeing their arguments drives me mad it's so nice to have the time to spend talking to them all & getting their unique take on life.
3. Talking to a friend of mine on Facebook now that she's got the hang of it :T
4. Doing a months worth of lunch & evening meal menu plans due to the holidays. Feeling very proud as pre MSE I would have winged it and ended up spending a fortune. Now I can use the extras saved for going out during the hols. DS3 & I are planning on 'doing' Manchester in full & taking advantage of all the free entertainment.
5. Seeing my Mum at the assembly looking very well & pretty in a new blouse. I hope I look as good at 69 :j
I wish everyone a pleasant evening and a good day tomorrow.0 -
NoahsPennilessMummy Thankyou for your support, it means a lot.
Olliebeak Thinking of you and your dd - I hope your dgs receives a diagnosis. A diagnosis is a funny old thing but overall it has been very positive for our family.
I hope everyone else on the thread is keeping well - ((((hugs)))) to all who are poorly or just in need of a cuddle.
My five for yesterday and today:
1. Having a quiet drink with dh at our local yesterday.
2. A roast chicken dinner tonight with carrots and new pots and today not even Sunday - yummy, scrummy
3. Fininshing my mountain of ironing - it took me two days but it is gone now :T
4. Getting up with dh at 6.30 and helping him get ready for work as he left at 7; waving dd off on the school bus at 8 and then.... sneaking back to bed for an extra hours snooze - teehee
5. Enjoying the cool breeze blowing in the kitchen window, it was so refreshing.
Have a good evening everyone xxx0 -
Hello all, thanks to those wishing me well with my house move, it really feels like it'll be a fresh start, and hopefully an end to our money worries. Realised that I've been feeling anxious pretty much constantly for the past few months over various things like uni results, exams, money issues, flatmate issues etc but in just under a month they should all be sorted and over with :jSending warm wishes and big hugs to everyone especially Kittikins, hope your mum has a speedy recovery :grouphug:
My five for today:
1. Made homemade bread for the first time ever! Used the cheese and potato bread recipe I found on here and was nicely surprised. Was quite stodgy in the middle, so think I'd need to roll it a bit thinner next time, but was really yummy
2. Was having a moan to my friend earlier, she made me realise that what I have is brilliant and I shouldn't put myself downSometimes you just need someone to make you see things from a different perspective. She's such an upbeat person too, she always cheers me up
3. Went to Mr T early today, was nice and warm so just had a vest top and sandals on. As soon as I got back inside the house it started chucking it down, glad I managed to escape a soaking!
4. Was getting stressed with my OH last night because he's not helping with packing and tidying for the move, I normally don't mind too much but it really bothered me last night. Realised I'm letting myself get too stressed and need to escape from the flat for a while so when he gets home from work I'm going to take him down the pub for a fewBeing constantly skint means we don't get out too much, so will be a nice treat.
5. Going in the local charity shop earlier, they had the door to the back room open and there was a few of the lady volunteers in there sorting out the donations. They were all chatting and laughing away, made me smile as it sounded like they were old friends having a great time, while doing something really worthwhile too.
Sorry, feel like I've rambled on a bit there!D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0
