Here are mine from yesterday and today:
Tuesday
1. DS1 stayed overnight at his friends house so I was looking forward to picking him up and giving him a hug.
2. Went to visit DS1's friend who is recuperating from a back operation. He is doing really well and recovering faster than expected. :T
3. His mum had made us home made scones and jam with greek yoghurt topping (I hadn't thought of that as a topping but it made a gorgeous alternative).
4. And yet more food-related pleasures! Making a chicken casserole with purple carrots and courgettes from our garden.
5. Going through a huge stack of leaflets and local brochures and working out all the fun things we can do over the summer holidays.
Today
1. Computer caught a virus and was expensive to have cleared but it's all okay now and I'm overjoyed that I have access to the OS thread again!
2. DS1's last day at cubs as he moves up to scouts in september. He was mentioned twice in the cubs newsletter for his awards and efforts so I was very proud.
3. Booked DS2 in for beavers in September. Hope he enjoys it as much as DS1 does.
4. Yankee Candle wax tarts burning away upstairs and downstairs - the house smells lovely.
5. If I lean back in my chair and look out of the kitchen window right now I can see the most glorious sunset. Aaaah! Life is good :cool:DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

my appendix ruptured and i had to have an emergancy operation, which before i went under they told me that due to my age (51) it could be a sign of something else (Bowel Cancer) or some form of cancer thankfully it was just appendix .
Just a year later i went for breast scanning and a lump was found thankfully again this was benign, but i had to have the lump remove, but my point is some times i get really down with all that is going on in my life, the debts, problem with my dd2 who is a nightmare, but then i reflect on what could have been and every falls into place.
I work for Mr S, doing a very mundane job but i get to meet people, some who are less fortunate than me, to day i called out to an elderly customer "how are you?" she went to a colleague and said how i was a lovely person as i always had the time of day for her.
May be want i have been through in the last two years has made me reflect and tack me back to roots where you treated someone as you want to be treated and to have the time of day for people.
I do get down, but know i stop and thick how lucky i am

Reverbe - Sooo pleased about your prospect of two weeks work. You never know where it might lead to. In 1991 my DH was out of work for 10months until he found some agency work. He was able to stay on in that job and it lasted until he retired last month.
I'm going to tootle off and find today's pleasures but will have to take it slowly today as I exhausted myself with all my efforts yesterday.

Mine for yesterday were:
Having "conversations" with my 8 week old baby turn-taking with noises as she smiled away at me.
Crossing a couple of things of my first Flylady list
Having a very OS and very satisfying beans on toast for dinner - we shall be having it more often as we all thoroughly enjoyed it!
Tidying the kitchen down at 9pm last night. I usually don't like doing stuff once the kids are in bed so DH and I can chill together, but it only took 20 minutes and it felt great seeing the sparkling bench tops and clear spaces :j
Having a lovely relaxing bath while hearing DD downstairs laughing away with her dad.
Have a good day everyoneLove and compassion to all x0 -
good morning, all :hello:
Sounds like you and DM had a pleasant time together, Sparrer.
We also have resident woodpigeons, Primrose - but we have a different nickname for ours (too polite to post it on here) due to his habits on the lid of the water-butt .
((((HUGS)))) to you and your mum, Blimus - the first 12 mths are the worst - the hurt doesn't ever go away, but it becomes 'less central' to everything.
Hope you enjoy your trip to Nice, Caterina :j.
Good to hear you're enjoying your travel pass, Bella. Looking forward to getting mine - we can use them on the buses, trains AND ferries here. Still 2yrs to wait, but I'm already planning days out.
Well done to your ds, thriftyscotslass. Big step for him. ((((HUGS)))) for you both. Please God, that your mother learns to accept the diagnosis as well. We KNOW that my dgs1 has 'a problem' but nobody seems to be able to pinpoint it at the moment and are blaming my DD's parenting skills - so I know how much a diagnosis means to everybody - we're thinking ADHD at least, probably ASD and possibly Asperger's.
Good on you for braving the well-woman check, Louba.
Somebody else with a DD who rings mum when stuck, Kiwiblue.
Welcome Grandmasam - welcome to the thread and :T well done you on driving all the way to Germany!
lol at the geese, Rainbow - I love to watch animal behaviour too. They can be soooo funny.
Sorry to hear you're a bit 'out of sorts' Kittikins - be good to yourself. Hope your daughter's problem rights itself again - remember those days very well indeed myself.
Love that memory of your DS3's - how sweet of him, SunnyGirl.
((((HUGS)))) to you and your son too, NoahsPenniless Mum.
, Bella and :T to your OH.
Well done Reverbe - some great blessings/pleasures there - and brill news about the job - even if it's only temporary.
Bad news about your comp, Blimus - but pleased it was quickly sorted.
Congratulations :T on the afternoon nap, scrummymummy AND for convincing the children to join in .
Well done on your positive attitude, barneydee - and on finding time to give others a boost.
They grown so quickly don't they, Boodle - sounds like your little one is already developing her own personality.
Not much 'money-saving os' going on here at the moment - though I've had some 'enforced no-spend-days' - due to payday being yesterday.
1. DD has had some health issues recently - docs seem divided on 'grumbling' appendicitis, ibs and ovarian cysts'. I tend to be going with the ibs at the moment due to all the stress etc going on in her life. She was at the hospital a couple of nights ago (ALL night!), but at least that should help to speed up a hospital appointment and an eventual proper diagnosis.
2. Had another lovely salad using my home-grown leaves last night.
3. Dgd1 is coming here straight from school today to go shopping and we'll have something to eat while we're out - her birthday treat plus she's going on a school weekend trip on friday.
4. Looked after dgs3 (Billy-blue-eyes aged 11mths) for a couple of hours yesterday while his daddy was gloss-painting in their 'new house'. He was a little cherub (for the first time ever with me) - going to HAVE to leave the travel cot up all the time (as a playpen) in future !
Can't think of any more at the moment.
Hope everybody has a lovely os day today.
love Ollie xxx0 -
Morning all,
It's taken me ages to catch up, what a lot of inspiring posts. It feels like such as strong community on here.
I've been teary today (get annoyed when I'm like this). A woman in my loved one's work likes my loved one a "bit too much" for my liking. I've taken a seed and grown an oak tree in about 2 secs! But, the silver lining is/are:
1. Life is precious. Your loved ones are too and we must not taken them for granted. So when he returns home, there will be some twinks hob nobs and a hug! There, that made me smile!
2. Watching one of the cats watch a fly. The intensity on their faces, how their ears sharpen and move forward, is just beautiful.
3. Saving up my Boots points (bit like my Nan did with Green Shield Stamps) and getting a hair styler worth £25 for free.
4. Remembering how much I enjoy reading books. Getting some bargain books at the charity shop. And donating some back to them.
5. Catching up with friends and nattering for ages.
And to finish, there's a great saying I heard somewhere, goes something like this...
:A When you pray, move your feet. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks

Just waiting for the dishwasher to finish and am packing stuff up as my mum suffered a heart attack this morning and is in hospital after some operation, I don't know why I'm writing this, I'm kind of on auto-pilot until we get there and I can go and see her. She has a multitude of other health problems so I'm trying to stay positive as any hospital stay is always fraught with anxiety for us.
Work are being fantastic about it, I'm going to take my laptop up with me and log in whenever. Just not sure what to tell DD when I go and pick her up early.
My things to be thankful for:
1. My mum is in the best place with fantastic care (their local hospital is outstanding)
2. My employers are all being very supportive
3. DD didn't wet the bed last night, even though ex did let her have a drink just before she went to bed, silly man
4. I went to bed at 7pm to try and stave off a horrible cold and it seems to have worked, I just feel a bit sniffly now.0 -
Kittikins - sorry about your Mum's heart attack. You must be full of anxiety. Do hope everything turns out OK for her.0
